We hear idioms all the time, certain phrases that guide our lives. These adages can steer our thinking and sharpen decision-making. Maybe a grandparent said it; maybe you heard it from a teacher or coach. Maybe your parents hammered home their wisdom in a well-worn axiom. Some are movie quotes, some were penned by a classic author, but quite a few found their origin in the Bible, the source for many idioms that can serve as wise signposts for our lives.

Horizon was founded with a motto: Yours to Explore. The idea was to create a place where people could comfortably investigate faith and God. That notion wasn’t something we grasped casually; it came directly from Jesus. His posture was warm, confident, and welcoming. He stood before skeptics and encouraged them to ask questions, test His miracles, and challenge His claims. The most compelling argument for His deity came from His behavior, and that model serves as the basis for Horizon’s core values: culturally relevant, comfortable environment, excellence, family, challenging Bible teaching, everybody helping out, transformed lives, and multiplication. Join Horizon’s Equipping Service as we study the Book of Matthew and learn to embody what Christ demonstrated during His ministry.
