Colin is joined by Jason Timpf, host of “Hoops Tonight”.
They start with the city of Chicago losing the Bears to Hammond, Indiana as well as losing its bid to host World Cup games and the trend of states/cities competing with each other to host professional sports teams (3:30).
They move to the NBA Finals and whether Wemby’s thin frame has become a disadvantage when playing against the thicker, stronger Karl-Anthony Towns (6:00), why the expectations that Wemby be a finished product at 22 years old are unrealistic, and why Towns has grown and learned from past mistakes that cost his teams (10:15).
They argue that the Spurs have been making dumb mistakes you’d expect a young team to make, while the Knicks have been situationally excellent (17:30). They also discuss the confluence of events that have to come together in order for a non-star driven team like the Knicks to win the NBA title (25:30). They highlight that the Knicks have a special locker room chemistry that has led them to play for one another and exceed expectations (31:45).
Jason breaks down why the Knicks have been able to break down the Spurs defense with ease, and why the Knicks are just a terrible matchup for the Spurs (37:00).
Finally, they look back at the life and career of Bulls legend and broadcaster Stacey King who passed away at 59 (43:30).
