A Hoodoo True Crime You’ve Never Heard Of (1845 New Orleans) Sep 16, 2025

Show notes

Most people have never heard this true story…
In 1845 a slave named Pauline and her lover Peter Rabbeneck turned an ordinary Bayou Road home into a secret prison.
For six terrifying weeks, Pauline held her mistress and three children hostage, beating and starving them in the dark.
When the nightmare was exposed, it led to one of the most shocking executions in New Orleans history.

But that’s not all.
Whispers say she sought help from Voodoo John, the city’s most feared conjurer, to bind love and bend fate.
Fact and folklore meet on the same crooked street.
