They believed that these inmates could be rehabilitated by hard work, isolation and god. They thought solitary confinement would lead these men and women to penitence, the root word of Penitentiary. But the deafening silence drove many of these prisoners to the brink of insanity, leading to riots, murders, suicides and unspeakable violent acts. Today the brooding gothic edifice is widely regarded as one of the most haunted buildings in the entire world.

Gunned down by Detective Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon), dying murderer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) uses black magic to put his soul inside a doll named Chucky -- which Karen Barclay (Catherine Hicks) then buys for her young son, Andy (Alex Vincent). When Chucky kills Andy's baby sitter, the boy realizes the doll is alive and tries to warn people, but he's institutionalized. Now Karen must convince the detective of the murderous doll's intentions, before Andy becomes Chucky's next victim.

In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both human beings and canines in the camp and they discover that the beast can assume the shape of its victims. A resourceful helicopter pilot (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) lead the camp crew in a desperate, gory battle against the vicious creature before it picks them all off, one by one.

EP 74 - The Haunting of Chernobyl | Ukraine Mar 29, 2023

Chernobyl is known for the nuclear accident that took place on April 26th 1986. The citizens of the nearby city of Pripyat were forced to evacuate, but for many, it was too late. Thousands were infected by the poisonous cloud that spread from reactor 4 across several countries. The contaminated area surrounding Chernobyl nuclear power plant remains uninhabitable and will stay that way for thousands of years. The Isles of Shoals sit just a few miles off the coast of Maine. The beautiful scenery attracted people of every walk of life, which also included pirates. Blackbeard is said to have frequented the tavern on one of the isles and to have left more than one precious thing behind. In 1873 Smuttynose Island would be the scene of a vicious axe murder and the victim and killer himself are said to still roam the island.
