Today, Irene Daria is a cognitive developmental psychologist and reading tutor to the stars. At the time of this story, she was a graduate student and “just” a mom thrilled that her son had been accepted to one of the most esteemed schools in Manhattan. Sure that he was on the path to a venerable education, she did not listen when her 5-year-old told her that he—like millions of other children—was not being taught how to read in school.

Kate Bowen began homeschooling her son in 2014. With a college background in K-12 education, she firmly believes in child-led learning. Initially using curated curriculums, Kate quickly discovered that unschooling was a better fit for their family's lifestyle on a farm, especially with a husband's travel schedule in the military. She is a strong advocate for family deschooling and the unlearning of conventional educational norms at the start of the homeschooling journey. Passionate about incorporating music education and real world life skills into the curriculum, Kate encourages children to pursue their interests. Residing in East Tennessee, she lives in an RV and is currently building her third farm from scratch.

ISE is a non-doctrinal sex ed program for parents and older teens to discuss sexuality in a meaningful way. Rather than presenting specific ideas as Truth, ISE provides a brief neutral overview of all perspectives, inviting parents and teens to come to their own conclusions as to which ideas should be criticized and which should be elevated. Sex Ed for teens age 14 and up is entirely different than the protective Sex Ed appropriate for younger children. Your teens are on the cusp of adulthood. Give them the best possible launch.

Back when I started homeschooling in 2006, it was a constant struggle to find educational curriculum and opportunities for my son. But as you know, in the past few years there has been an explosion of educational opportunities from amazing educators around the world and families seeking those resources. The problem is how do people find them.
I recently started a new website called IndyEd.com. It's the first database of its kind that allows educators to list their online classes, downloadables, books, kits, in-person experiences, and more into one easily searchable database so learners can quickly find what they need. Learners can search by secular/religious, age, subject, neurodivergencies, and more. We don't sell education on IndyEd.com- we simply connect learners with educators. With a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia, Tasniya embarked on her professional journey in teaching, discovering her true calling as she immersed herself in several Sunday schools and founded youth groups tailored to Muslim children and their families. In 2015, Tasniya deepened her expertise by earning her Master's degree in Elementary Montessori Education, marking the beginning of her impactful career as she guided upper elementary children in local Montessori schools.
