    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.

After a few weeks without a podcast, Brian and Chris discuss how the Mets seem like they’re no closer to having a manager, and how the same people seem to be getting interviewed over and over again.

Next up, the World Series is discussed, and how both hosts are reluctantly rooting for the Astros. Also, this will not matter by the time you hear the show.

    Chris’s Music Pick:

Frankie and the Witch Fingers - ZAM

    Brian’s Music Pick:

Slim Gaillard - Laughing in Rhythm: Best of the Verve Years

UnforMETable, Episode 29: Kevin Bass Oct 23, 2019
    Show notes

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past.

Kevin Bass came to the Mets in the summer of 1992, as New York tried to stoke the flaming embers of a near dynastic run and make a desperate playoff push.

Bass’s most indelible tie to the franchise, though, was at the apex of the mid 80’s Mets run. As an All Star right fielder for the 1986 Houston Astros, Bass represented a formidable piece of the opposition’s offense in the 1986 National League Championship. And he came to the plate against Jesse Orosco for one of the most memorable at bats in Mets history

A Pod of Their Own, Episode 28: The Search for the Next Great Mickey Callaway Oct 16, 2019
    Show notes

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

When last we spoke, the potential firing of Mickey Callaway was merely a twinkle in our eyes - now we unpack the ins and outs of why he’s gone and who’s looking to fill his shoes.

Next, we unpack the Braves’ half-assed statement on their usage of the Chop during the postseason (and take a little victory lap over their elimination embarrassment).

Then we look at the ways this postseason was shaped by domestic violence and talk about how abusive actions can be addressed outside of a legal context

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.

First up, Chris and Brian reflect on Mickey Callaway’s two-season tenure as Mets’ manager, and talk about some of the particular low lights of his tenure.

Then, in the midst of discussing potential candidates - including Carlos Beltran, Joe Girardi, Robin Ventura, Mike Metheny, Clint Hurdle and more - Chris lands on a galaxy brain idea that every front office should legitimately implement.

And, finally, we try to nail down the one quality we really want in a Mets manager.

    Ty Segall - First Taste

    Brian’s Music Pick:

UnforMETable, Episode 28: Rick White Oct 09, 2019
    Show notes

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past.

With a strong team headed towards a second straight playoff appearance for the first time in franchise history, the Mets made a minor move to bolster their depth prior to the 2000 trade deadline, acquiring relief pitcher Rick White from Tampa Bay, along with outfielder Bubba Trammell.

The journeyman righthander would go on to pitch two crucial innings in the Mets’ 2000 National League Division Series battle with the San Francisco Giants, setting up one of the most memorable moments in team playoff history—Benny Agbayani’s walk-off home run to win Game 3 in the 13th inning.
