    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.

A few days late, Chris arrives in Port St. Lucie, so he and Brian decamped to the Vine and Barley to record a live podcast. We were joined in person, and very occasionally on the mic, by Amazin’ Avenue alum Tim Finnegan to discuss what we saw and heard around Mets camp on Thursday and Friday.

Plus, Brian got a chance to have brief discussions with both Dwight “Doc” Gooden and Gary Cohen, and you get some lovely ambient bar noise, which may or may not include some animated patrons requesting tunes and singing along with the live entertainment.

    Chris’s Music Pick:

Fu Manchu - King of the Road

A Pod of Their Own, Episode 38: A conversation with D.B. Firstman Feb 12, 2020
    Show notes

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by taking a look at Baseball Prospectus’s surprisingly Mets-friendly PECOTA projections and ask ourselves the eternal question: are the Mets good?

Next, we call out the Mets for some pretty classless treatment of their minor leaguers and also unpack the latest unfortunate chapter in the sign-stealing saga (spoiler alert: it’s not looking great for Carlos Beltran).

Then, we welcome a special guest in D.B. Firstman, brilliant baseball writer and wordsmith whose book Hall of Name: Baseball’s Most Magnificent Monikers hits stores next month. They share their journey to writing this book (and what Mets make the cut!) and weigh in on the latest MLB rumblings.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
