UnforMETable, Episode 53: Brian Bannister May 17, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past.

Brian Bannister was drafted by the Mets in 2003, and made it to the Show in 2006. While he only made a handful of starts before getting injured, Bannister showed potential for the team, and was used as a trade chip in the off-season. From there, he went to Japan, to the Red Sox’s coaching staff, and now to the Giants’ front office.

    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue in Conversation, a podcast from Amazin’ Avenue where we invite interesting people on the show to talk about themselves, the Mets, and more.

Mike Puma has been on the Mets beat for the New York Post for 12 seasons, and had covered the team for the Connecticut Post part-time before then. His time with the team goes deep, and so he was the perfect person to write a book about the club. If These Walls Could Talk: New York Mets Stories From the Dugout, Locker Room, and Press Box came out at the end of April, and it gives a unique perspective on the last 20 years or so of the Mets’ story.

UnforMETable, Episode 52: Adam Wilk May 11, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past.

Adam Wilk was signed prior to the 2017 season as an option for rotation depth or as a possible left-handed option out of the bullpen. But Wilk was unexpectedly pressed into action when the team suddenly needed a starter after suspending Matt Harvey for failure to report to a game on time.

Wilk had to travel across 5 states in 24 hours, taking a redeye to New York, landing and reporting directly to Citi Field to take the mound—only to endure a drubbing at the hands of Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins and get unceremoniously designated for assignment the following day.

Amazin' Avenue in Conversation, Episode 25: Brian Baker May 07, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue in Conversation, a podcast from Amazin’ Avenue where we invite interesting people on the show to talk about themselves, the Mets, and more.

Brian Baker only became a Met fan when he moved to New Jersey in the mid-2010s, but he has made up for lost time. If you’re a fan of punk rock, you know Brian as the founding bassist of Minor Threat, founder/guitarist/songwriter of Dag Nasty, the guitarist in Bad Religion since the mid-90s, and, most recently, as the guitarist in both Fake Names and Beach Rats.

Hosts Chris and Brian geek out for 40 minutes or so with Brian about the time he played with Carlos Santana as a tween, this most likable of Mets teams, and much, much more.

Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 60: Cold Chili May 06, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.

The Mets have finished a seven game road trip, coming back to Queens after playing 4-3 on the road. That happened despite a rash of injuries, the bats still not exactly waking up, the firing of their hitting coaches, and games against the two current division leaders in the East and Central. Brian and Chris discuss these topics, as well as bizarre fan deductions, on the show this week.

    Chris’s Music Pick:

Cory Hanson - Pale Horse Rider

    Brian’s Music Pick:

Michael Shire - All the President’s Men

    A Pod of Their Own, Episode 83: Get a Tempur-Pedic May 05, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing the past couple of weeks of Mets baseball, which have been quite the rollercoaster between the slumbering Mets offense revived by Donnie Stevenson, the firing of Chili Davis, deGrom’s lat issue (he should be fine), and a benches-clearing incident over the weekend.

Next, we talk about how pervasive poor umpiring has been across baseball this year.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
