Show notes
Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the takeaways from the Mets’ first three series of the season, including Carlos Carrasco’s struggles, Pete Alonso hitting a lot of baseballs (which might be different again?) out of the ballpark, and the Mets seemingly relegating Francisco Álvarez to a backup catching role.
In our baseball segment this week, we cover the Royals stadium workers speaking out about unsafe working conditions at Kauffman Stadium. We also talk about Rob Manfred calling analytics an “arms race to nowhere,” John Angelos not opening the books after all, and Angels preferring only team-friendly coverage when it comes to their affiliated media.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. You can read the article about Dave Smith and Retrosheet that Allison referenced in her Walk-off Win on MLB.com.
