Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast

Home Run Applesauce, part of Fans First Sports Network, is a collection of New York Mets podcasts that celebrate the team and explore it from a variety of angles. Amazin' Avenue Audio's Very Festive Festivus Dec 23, 2015
    Show notes

Gather round our large metal pole, one and all, as we discuss strength-to-weight ratios, Mets dinner companions, air a whole lot of grievances and perform feats of strength on Amazin' Avenue Audio. There is only one way to wrap up a wacky, weird, 2015 year on the pod, and that is with a Festivus (though probably not a Cespedes) for the rest of us. P.S. We also answer your e-mails, because Jeffrey was not letting them sit until 2016, and anyway the whole thing didn't take as long as he thought it would.

    Episode 164: BARTYOLO Dec 17, 2015
    Show notes

Gather round the fire and pour yourself a large mug of wassail. Jeffrey and Greg are here to tell you a tale of a larger than life man. More than a man, a legend. Yes, Bartolo Colon is back, and we are hear to talk about it. We also find time to talk about Jerry Blevins return and Dick Scott's promotion to bench coach. And of course there are your e-mails from all of the Daves we know. Because these are the Daves we know, we know. See you in 2016 for more obscure pop culture references and payroll grumbling!

Episode 163: New news, who dis? Dec 12, 2015
    Show notes

This podcast has a long history of having news break shortly after we stop recording, especially during November and December, but even by our standards this week was impressive. Jeffrey and Greg have a lovely conversation about losing out on Ben Zobrist and the subsequent Neil Walker trade. We also answer your e-mails. Then an hour after we finished recording, the Mets signed Asdrubal Cabrera. So we picked back up 48 hours later with Jeffrey and Milo breaking down that deal and checking in on more famous Republic of Ireland soccer players and Josh Satin (not a Republic of Ireland soccer player). THEN A HALF HOUR AFTER THIS WAS FINISHED MICHAEL CUDDYER RETIRED....so...back to the podcasting stations, as Jeffrey and Kate discuss that happening.

Episode 162: Winter Meetings preview? Dec 07, 2015
    Show notes

In Episode 162 of Amazin' Avenue Audio, Jeffrey and Brian scrounge around for bits of news as the Winter Meetings kick off. The Mets will have a new bench coach, but a lot of the same players. Next David Roth of Vice Sports joins the show to talk about things to do in Scarsdale and Bridgeport and scan baseball-reference pages while discussing Raul Valdes and Trot Nixon's Mets careers. Finally, we have a very long e-mail segment where we just end up wildly guessing how much every single 2016 Met would make as a free agent this offseason.

Episode 161: The mysterious case of Eulises Sanchez Dec 02, 2015
    Show notes

Amazin' Avenue Audio is back again, as Steve and Jeffrey complain about the opening question segment, discover the Mets made a bunch of minor league free agent signings, ruminate about a Jenrry Mejia tender, and rant about Wuilmer Becerra being left off the 40-man. Then it is time for your (pro wrestling) e-mails that are of interest to probably only Stuart. But don't say we didn't warn you this time.

Episode 160: No news never stops the pod Nov 30, 2015
    Show notes

In Episode 160, Jeffrey and Lukhas discuss all the goings-on in Metsland, which include...well...uh...the Mets are interested in Ben Zobrist? Jordan Zimmermann signed with a team in the AL Central? People on twitter want to trade Lucas Duda? Yeah, it is the miserable dregs of the offseason where we have nothing to talk about and still somehow fill 60 minutes. We also answer your e-mails about Daniel Murphy, JA Happ, Matt Harvey, Daniel Murphy, baseball history and Daniel Murphy. Well, at least some things never change.

Episode 159: Our Annual AAA AAOPs Nov 18, 2015
    Show notes

It's time for your hosts Amazin' Avenue Audio Offseason Plans, but Chris McShane can't be bothered to defend his 2014 title (which he won by cheating). He claims he is sick or something, leaving Jeffrey and Greg to debate the merits of Hansel Robles, 8th inning guy versus Dexter Fowler, leadoff hitter. Next, we answer your e-mails on Jeremy Hefner, Marcell Ozuna, and once and future podcast legends. Finally, we end the show with Greg dropping some Irish soccer (?!) knowledge.

    Episode 158: AAA_email.exe Nov 14, 2015
    Show notes

You won't stop e-mailing the show, so Jeffrey and Lukas break the emergency weekend podcast seal to clean out the inbox. And since there is a bit of Mets news to cover we kick things off with a discussion of Daniel Murphy's Qualifying Offer and the Mets "attempts" to trade for Andrelton Simmons. Then it is onto your e-mails about Adam Eaton, Denard Span, trading Lucas Duda, spending lots of money, the Mets shortstop situation, and (sigh) Jose Reyes. Finally, we wrap things up with a belated IFK Goteborg update.

Episode 157: Your regularly scheduled programming Nov 10, 2015
    Show notes

Normally by now on Amazin' Avenue Audio, we would have done a season review, an offseason preview, and some Rule 5 talk, but as you may have heard on podcasts like this one, the Mets spent all of October in the playoffs. So we have some catching up to do. First Jeffrey and Kate review the 2015 season one last time and discuss the Terry Collins extension. Next, Jeffrey and Brian look at some early roster moves and the Mets crop of free agents. Then, Jeffrey and Greg discuss Rule 5 protections and further 40-man roster machinations. Oh there's more, Jeffrey and Lukas preview the Mets offseason and discuss the *sigh* shortstop situation. Finally, Jeffrey and Milo answer your e-mails until Jeffrey finally has to cry 'uncle.'

    Episode 156: #RIP2015Mets, Long live the 2015 Mets Nov 02, 2015
    Show notes

Gather round listeners and you shall here, well nothing about Game 5 of the World Series. It doesn't feel right (and really you could just listen to the Game 4 recap again for effect). Instead Jeffrey, Steve, Lukhas, and Brian throw an Irish Wake for the 2015 Mets. There will be time for season reviews, offseason previews, and hot Rule 5 protection action in a week or so, but for now we send off one of the most fun teams of our lifetimes.
