    How To Prepare for A Large Clutter Cleanout Feb 10, 2020

    On this episode of The Hoardganize Podcast, Professional Organizer Rachel Seavey discusses tips on how to prepare for a big hoarding or clutter cleanup job with a cleanout crew.

    This episode is for anyone with excessive clutter - be prepared to have your cleanup go as smoothly as possible if you need one in the future.

    Some people are forced by the fire marshall, the police department, home owner associations, landlords, to clean up their clutter or they will lose there home. Other people are flat out tired of the mess and want to take massive action to get their homes decluttered. Whether this is a forced or conscious decision, there are tools on this podcast to allow your cleanup to run smoothly.

    Rachel discusses having realistic expectations, ways to prepare and diffuse situations, and tips for self care during these big cleanups.

    Stop letting irrelevant items get in the way of the happy organized life that you truly deserve and desire.

    1. Do I still love it?

    2. Do I still like it?

    3. Do I need it?

    4. Would I buy it again?

    5. Do I wear it?

    6. Is there a duplicate?

    7. How easy would it be to get another one?

    8. Would I get that exact item or choose something else?

    9. Do I use it?

    10. Do I cherish it?

    11. Do I already have a similar item?

    12. Would the person I am saving this for really want it?

    13. Am I going to really make the effort to get this item to someone?

    14. When was the last time I used this?

    15. Does this drain my energy or lift it?

    16. Does this make me feel overwhelmed or depressed?

    17. Does this make me feel good or happy?

    18. Will I take the time to repair or fix this?

    19. Is this really important to me?

    20. Is this outdated?

    21. Is it in good enough condition to use?

    22. Would someone with much less appreciate it more?

    23. Is there a charity I would like to donate this to?

    24. Have I been hanging onto this "just in case"?

    25. Is this trying to fill a need inside me?

    26. What could I focus on if I didn't have this clutter?

    27. What have I not done because clutter has been in my way?

    28. In what ways would my life improve if I removed this clutter?

    29. Does this fit my vision of a clutter free life?

    30. Is this item included in my home when I imagine in clutter free?
