In 1946, a serial killer, known as The Phantom, terrorized the small town of Texarkana, Arkansas. In a two month period eight people were brutually attacked. Five of the victims died of their wounds. The whole community was in a panic. Then, just as quickly as it started, the killing spree stopped. The Killer has never been found.

The Salem Witch Trials were a series of prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts in 1692 and 1693. The mass hysteria over witchcraft lead to hundreds of arrests. The trials resulted in the executions of 20 innocent people.

On October 3, 1849 famous writer Edgar Allan Poe was found wandering and delirious on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. Poe died four days later. The cause of his death remains a mystery.

At the age of 15, Edmund Kemper killed both his grandparents to "see what it felt like." Upon release from prison, he drifted, picking up and releasing female hitchhikers. But he soon stopped letting them go, killing six college-age women in the Santa Cruz, California, area in the 1970s. Still not satisfied, Big Ed his killed his mother and her best friend.
