High Capacity – Nervous System Regulation, Stress Management, Burnout Recovery, Somatic Tools, Anxiety, Boundaries, Overwhelm

You’ve built a full life. The career, the family, the responsibilities, the goals — all of it.

And the fuller it gets, the more stretched thin you feel.

Not because you lack the discipline or drive to figure it out.

But because your nervous system was never upgraded to match the life you’ve built.

High Capacity is the podcast for ambitious women who are done just managing their stress and are ready to actually expand what they can hold.

Hosted by trial attorney turned nervous system strategist Michelle Grosser, each episode unpacks the nervous system science behind why you feel maxed out, reactive, and depleted — and gives you real tools to expand your capacity across every area of your life.

This isn’t just about doing less.

It’s about becoming someone whose nervous system can hold more — more joy, more presence, more of the life you’ve worked hard to build, and more of the demands that come with it — without the low-grade stress that’s become your new normal.

    Here’s what you’ll learn:

    – How to expand your emotional, stress, physical, relational, and joy capacity

    – Nervous system-based tools that work in real life, in real time

    – How to identify your Capacity Pattern — the specific strategy your nervous system defaults to when you’re overwhelmed — and what it means for your stress, your relationships, and your daily life

New episodes every Tuesday and Friday.

Tuesdays bring the nervous system science and tools.

Hi-Cap Fridays give you one practical move to expand your capacity in the week ahead.

    126 – Doing Everything for Everyone? 5 Telltale Signs You’re Overfunctioning May 08, 2023
    Show notes

If you’re being honest, how often do you find yourself taking on the responsibilities of others?

Maybe you’ve gotten into the habit of doing most of the household and parenting tasks because you fear they won’t get done otherwise. Or maybe you’re the one who always offers to pick up extra projects at work. You’re always busy doing things for others and heaven forbid you ask for help *gasp*!

We can try to convince ourselves that we do so out of love and service, but overfunctioning is often a coping mechanism for our anxiety and insecurities.

In today’s episode, we discuss why overfunctioning is actually a disservice to ourselves and those we love.

I also coach you through 5 telltale signs that you’re stuck in a pattern of overfunctioning so you can consciously make a decision to show up in a way that better serves you and your family in the long run.

125 – Is “Good Vibes Only” Toxic? Why Avoiding Certain Emotions Causes Dysregulation and What to Do Instead May 05, 2023
    Show notes

Do you find yourself trying to bring “good vibes only?” So often we can feel the need to be strong, positive, or muster up a smile when what we really want to do is scream or have a good cry. How often do we expect the same of our kids?

The more we suppress our emotions instead of feeling and releasing them in a healthy way, the more our body stores emotional energy which leads to dysregulation and a narrow window of tolerance.

In today’s episode, we explore how we can hold space for the full range of our children’s emotions – whether “good vibes” or not, and how we can learn to connect and listen to the messages our emotions are sending us.

123 – Why Your Nervous System May Be Dysregulated Even If You Don’t Feel Stressed Out May 01, 2023
    Show notes

Are you experiencing symptoms of a dysregulated nervous system even though you don’t necessarily feel stressed out?

Chronic stress – stress we’ve experienced in our past - changes the nervous system on a physiological level. While you might not feel like you’re currently living in a “stressful” season, your nervous system is still impacted by decades of stress and trauma that hasn’t been fully released from the body.

In today’s episode, you’ll learn how chronic stress shifts our nervous system into a higher gear, leading to the release of stress hormones that prepare our body for the "fight or flight" response, which over time leads to nervous system dysregulation.

You’ll also learn how we can facilitate the release of stress, emotions, and trauma from our body so that it doesn’t stay stuck and cause nervous system dysregulation.

    122 – Stop Intellectualizing Everything!  Knowledge Doesn’t Lead to Change – Here’s What Does Apr 28, 2023
    Show notes

When it comes to change and growth, knowledge is inferior to embodiment. *gasp!*

It’s true - most of the information we tend to consume focuses on quick fixes and the thrill that comes from acquiring information. But science has shown that knowledge alone rarely leads to true transformation.

The necessary component to lasting change is embodiment. In today’s episode, I coach on what it means to be embodied, how you know once you’ve actually embodied something new, and how to be aware of the signs that you're simply intellectualizing new information.

117 – You Might Be Missing a Key Piece to Your Health Puzzle! Why You Must Have Neurological Fitness Before Can Have Physical or Emotional Health Apr 17, 2023
    Show notes

The state of our nervous system either increases the power, or limits the range, of all our thoughts and behaviors. It’s the foundation upon which every aspect of our health and wellbeing is built.

As a result, our level of neurological fitness significantly influences the way we experience the world around us.

So, what does it mean to be “neurologically fit”?

Practically, it might mean our kids have a meltdown over breakfast and it doesn’t derail our morning.

It might mean when we get tough news, and we can analyze it with perspective instead of spiraling out of control.

It might be how we get out of the loop of procrastination and follow through on our goals.

Being neurologically fit also refers to our ability to adapt to changes in our environment and gracefully respond to the demands of life and motherhood.

You don’t want to miss this episode. No doubt, our resilience and adaptability as high-achieving moms is our superpower – and it all stems from a regulated nervous system.
