Jeremiah 15: verses 10-21 Markita Knight sings "Always For Me" Aug 08, 2025
    Show notes

For the next few weeks we will be exploring the rich laments of the prophet Jeremiah. Rich, because we can relate to the prophet's complaints, and also be encouraged that God gives us a script in His holy Word to speak to Him about the things that vex us. Chad shines a bright light on these words of Jeremiah, and meditates on God's responses. The talented Markita Knight sings "Always For Me".

    Song Lyrics:

    Jeremiah 15:10-21 Always For Me

    I never asked for this,

    Never asked to be born

In a world full of sin

    Of struggle and scorn

    I never asked for this….

    Oh Lord, You know

    I never asked to borrow

    A dollar from anyone

Yet I'm cursed like a debtor

Like I owe them the sun

    I never asked for this….

    Oh Lord, You know

    Chorus:

    I'm not alone

    When I cannot see

    In the valley of despair

    You are guiding me

    To hold onto You

    In You I am free

    Your divine love, O Jesus

    Is always for me

    is always for me

    Lord, You called me forth

    Before I was born

    You called me to be

    A wall in the storm

    In disaster and pain

    O Lord, you know

    Bridge:

You put your name in me

    For your purpose

You put your name in me

    By your grace

    I am not worthy

    To shine your light

    But my heart sings out

    You have given me sight

Lyrics to "I Want To Run With The Horses"

    Jeremiah 12:1-6

    The easy road

    The silver and gold

    And everything they gather

    Will be gone

    They speak Your name

They play the game But You are far from their heart

    They never draw near

In the blink of an eye

In the heat of the fire

They fall away from the light

    forever and ever

    (Chorus)

But I want to run with the horses

I want to run with the horses

    Carry me in Your hands

    It's You, O Christ, I need

I am sGrasping on to nothing

    Only You, only You

    The land cries out

    We're losing this race

    A desolation song

    From this barren place

But You will try my heart

By Your mercy, set me apart

And You will guide my feet

    To the glory that awaits

In the blink of an eye

In the heat of the fire

They fall away from the light

    forever and ever

    (Chorus)

But I want to run with the horses

I want to run with the horses

    Carry me in Your hands

    You, O Christ, I need

    Grasping on to nothing

    Only You, only You

Psalm 148 Izzi Ray sings "You Are The Only One" Jul 18, 2025
    Show notes

This is what we are created for, to know God, praise Him and be with Him in His new creation forever. We are loved more than we realize, surrounded by grace, even in the midst of trials and hardships. God is with us forever. Chad unpacks this wonderful Psalm and renews us with words of truth and encouragement. Izzi Ray sings "You Are The Only One"

    Psalm 148 ESV

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts!

Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.a]">[a]

Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word!

Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children!

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the Lord!

Jeremiah 11:18-23 Andrea Hammond sings "You Take It All" Jul 11, 2025
    Show notes

The Lord made it known to me and I knew; then you showed me their deeds. But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more." But, O Lord of hosts, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause.

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say, "Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand"— therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: "Behold, I will punish them. The young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine, and none of them shall be left. For I will bring disaster upon the men of Anathoth, the year of their punishment."

This is so beautifully explained and meditated on by Chad. Andrea Hammond sings "You Take It All".

Lyrics to "You Take It All"

    What can I do

    With all those who hate

    who persecute

    and lie in wait

    What can I do

    But cry out to you

    And Your heart of mercy

    A heart that is true

    Hear me

    hear my prayer

So You take it all into Yourself

All of the pain, all of the hurt

    All my sinful flaws

    Are nailed on the cross

So You take it all into Yourself

Mercy is traded for all that is wrong

    A gift from the Father

    Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

    Amen

    What will they do

    When their time has come

    When you bring disaster

    And their plans are undone

    What will they do

    In their final hour

    When they meet justice

    And resurrection power

So You take it all into Yourself

All of the pain, all of the hurt

    All of my sinful flaws

    Are nailed on the cross

So You take it all into Yourself

Mercy is traded for all that is wrong

    A gift from the Father

    Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

    Lyrics to "Laid on Him"

All we like sheep have gone astray

Everyone has turned to his own way

And the Lord has laid on him

All of our iniquity and all our sin

    Laid on him

    Oppressed and afflicted

    No deceit in Your tongue

    Castaway with the wicked

    God's only Son.

And the Lord has laid on him

All of our iniquity and all our sin

    Laid on him

    Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;

he has put him to grief

    Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;

by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,

make many to be accounted righteous,

when his soul makes an offering for guilt,

    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;

the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

    Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;

by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,

make many to be accounted righteous, Hallelujah

And the Lord has laid on him

All of our iniquity and all our sin

    Laid on him

Isaiah 42:1-9 Markita Knight sings "Behold" Jun 20, 2025
    Show notes

    Part of the passage Chad looks at says;

"I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them."

This is what our minds should dwell on. The beautiful love and mercy that has come for us and called us by name. Chad has an encouraging word for us and Markita Knight sings a beautiful song entitled "Behold".

    Lyrics for "Behold"

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things You now declare; Behold, before they arrive (spring forth) You've given us Your Word

And You hear, our desperate prayer

    You will not destroy

    The humbled soul

    The bruised reed

    The feeble and old

    When I am broken

    Lost and alone

    You hold my hand

    I am Your own

    Chorus:

    Behold, Jesus

We sing to You (we lift our eyes)

The deserts bloom, where mercy falls

    And living waters renew

    Behold Lord Jesus

    Descending in love,

    Rising in might

    Crowned in glory

    Reigning in light

Behold, You are gentle, You are kind

So full of mercy to the troubled mind

Behold, You bring forth truth and shine your light

The Judge of the earth will do what is right

to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, to bring out the prisoners who sit in darkness.

    Thus says the Lord

    Thus says our God

    Behold Jesus

Isaiah 50:4-11 Lynn sings "With Every Step" Jun 13, 2025
    Show notes

Once again we meditate on an Old Testament passage that is all about Jesus Christ. When we read "

    5

The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward.

    6

I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting.

    7

But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame."

We realize that Christ humbled Himself in so many ways, even giving His cheeks to His tormentors. Chad meditates on this and the meaning of "Word of the Father".

    Lynn sings "Step by Step".

    Lyrics to "Step by Step"

    Though I walk through darkness

And my eyes they cannot see

Your voice has been my light.

    With every step guiding me

    Word of the Father

    You speak to me

    You offered Yourself

    For Your enemies

    Morning by morning

    Awaken me I pray

    Not by my own light

And not in my own way

    Lord you will help me

    With every step, every hour

    Day by day

    With every step, every hour

    Day by day

    You are the Word

    You didn't hide Your face

    From hate and disgrace

You brought light to the darkness

    To the whole human race

    Word of the Father

    You speak to me

    You offered Yourself

    For Your enemies

    Morning by morning

    Awaken me I pray

    Not by my own light

And not in my own way

    Lord you will help me

    With every step, every hour

    Day by day

    With every step, every hour

    Day by day

    You are the Word

You gave Your back to those who strike, and Your cheeks to those who pulled out Your beard; You did not hide Your face

You did not hide Your face from all of this disgrace

You sustain me and remain with a word

    All who are weary

And Your sacrifice was not in vain

    You carried all our shame

    I hope in Your name

    The name without shame

    The mighty name of Jesus

    You are the Word

Psalm 98 with Colin Heinrich singing "Face to Face" Jun 06, 2025
    Show notes

Only God sees the whole story, and the backstory from every angle, and only God is qualified to judge us. We may judge others and ourselves much too harshly, or we may not care enough to speak up when someone is in need of guidance. in Psalm 98 we see the whole earth become animated and rejoice because God is coming to judge, and He will get it right.
