Episode 64: Fun Facts from the Outside Jun 02, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 64 is here! Welcome to all our listeners from all points on the compass!
Kari and Joe discuss some fun facts from the recent top 2,500 song countdown from 1982 to 1991 on the https://thefoxoldies.com . They review why The Talking Heads made it big on MTV, the genesis of Aretha's Zooming, discuss how Vanessa Williams missed out on a hit song, why a song was written for a tennis legend to learn some guitar licks, and how a song from 1984 became the subject of a TikTok meme.
Next, it is Just a Bit Outside; the segment which delves into songs which just missed the Top 40. Your hosts discuss a classic Parrotheads anthem and a song from Jennifer Warnes which wasn't "Up Where We Belong" or "I've Had the Time of My Life".

Episode 63: Everyday is like the Loch Ness Monster May 26, 2020
    Show notes

Hope everyone made the most of their Memorial Day Weekend; now it is time to get back to "reality".
In Episode 63, Kari and Joe re-visit Kari's hometown independent record store in "Songs from the Electric Fetus" to check out some "alternative" hits of the 80's. First, it is the battle of the umlauts: Hüsker Dü and pre-swan dress Björk. Then, Kari discusses being an angsty youth and connecting with Morrissey while Joe talks about Kate Bush, loyalty, and the Russians.
Since air travel is almost non-existent right now, Kari and Joe virtually visit the UK to see what was on the Top of the Pops this week in 1988. Will the singles from the double A-side make it "home" to the U.S. in their carry-ons or will they left behind because they are they all "wet (wet, wet)"?
In Songs that Time Forgot, Kari talks about a Night Ranger song from 1985. Check out to see if it is as good as Sister Christian and find out who was an unlikely fan. Joe talks about an underrated Police song which conjured up the Loch Ness Monster.
As always, be kind, be safe, and thanks for listening!
