Something unique today where we try Hearthstone’s new mode Battlegrounds! We tried our best to describe the shenanigans that take place with this mode.
Today we revisit the highlander paladin with a revised version of the deck from long time listener and patreon craptasm! He recently made legend with this deck sow e give it a try. You can find his story in the Hall of Legends.
We go on a different direction and try a deck that has been making the rounds due to the temporary reintroduction of some of the cards from previous sets. Evolve Shaman relies of explosive evolve turns to stick boards that you can leverage to bloodlust your opponents out of the game.
Episode 246 Highlander Secret Paladin Part 2
Oct 27, 2019
We try highlander secret again this week using some cards that have temporarily come back. This deck brings back memories from the heyday of Secret Paladin.
Note: FRID accidentally deleted this episode and had to repost it.

Episode 245 Highlander Secret Paladin
Oct 15, 2019
We try another highlander deck this week using some cards that have temporarily come back. This deck brings back memories from the heyday of Secret Paladin.
New month, new deck. Highlander Hunter is a very popular deck that is at the top of the meta and leverages powerful cards that require a Reno-style deck to work. It contains several secrets which make it tricky to play against and when things go south you can always find Zephrys or Zul’Jin answers.
This week, we try a deck with lots of cards from the new expansion including a quest. The quest druid deck takes advantage of choose one cards for a powerful mid to late game that tends to outlast opponents.
We try a deck that has been dominating the meta leaderboards and FRID has found some success with. This deck has consistent board refill and endgame potential for explosive lethals by taking advantage of Zephrys.
FRID has had some success with a couple of variants of Zoo Warlock and stumbled upon a version that uses single copies of cards to take advantage of Zephyrs the Great. It feels like the best of both versions of zoo combined with a good flavor of the new w
We kick off the Saviors of Uldum meta with a deck Dan has been enjoying in the early days of the meta. Quest Shaman takes advantage of battlecry minions to outlasts opponents.
We go back to a deck we tried back in the early days of the Rise of Shadows release with token druid. With the addition of SN1P-SN4P, it seems like decks are going a the mech direction and this deck is no exception.
While technically still June, we try a new deck I ran across that got someone Rank 6 legend. Aggro Shaman leverages the murlocs, but features the old doomhammer/rockbiter combo for some explosive finishes. This is a deck suited to Dan’s style and pace.
We go back to basics and try a classic deck that never goes away. It’s zoo one more time. I’ve had some success with it, and in the spirit of keeping decks to a minimum, we go with what works.
New month and new deck to try for legend. Murloc Shaman is a pretty straightforward deck that plays very similarly to token druid and has some strong synergies and a lot more longevity than the druid deck thanks to cards like the 2 Hagathas and Shudderwock.
We close out the month with the same version of the deck from last week. It is unlikely that Dan will get to legend this month, but there is always next month.
Dan and FRID couldn’t agree on the bronze gatekeeper or the flamebot so they go on a different direction by tweaking the deck once more to include the unleash the hounds and direwolf alpha combo.
It appears this deck has lost its luster but we are going to stick with it for the time being to stay consistent to the May legend run plan. It appears that the deck is now countered, but we try to see if we can make it work. We made one tweak to the deck by changing the Upgradeable Flamebot for a Bronze Gatekeeper.
I feel like versions of mech hunter have failed in the past but it appears like this aggressive version of mech hunter has finally cracked the code. Someone recently reached rank 1 legend with this explosive (see what I did there?) deck.
Zoo Warlock is back. Zoo Warlock is always a deck and Rise of Shadows is no different. Zoo made an appearance at the World Championships this weekend and we are going to try a version for this show.
This week we try the same deck as last week with the goal of refining Dan’s play. This version of Token druid takes advantage of some new cards to create a steady stream of tokens that can leverage Savage Roar to finish games.
This week we try the deck that has raised to the top of the meta. This new version of Token druid takes advantage of some new cards to create a steady stream of tokens that can leverage Savage Roar to finish games.
This week we play a deck suggested by long time listener Zer0cruel. Aggro Paladin bring back call to arms and divine favor to draw through the deck and tries to end the game by turn 5-6. Zero believes this is more Dan’s pace.
This week we try a deck that has come and gone from the meta and is Dan’s favorite class. Even Paladin is a bit slower that our usual pace but it has enough sustain and aggression to outlast opponents.
This week we try one of the hottest decks in the meta. Wall priest can be really difficult for the opponent to get through with a lot of taunts and board clears. If that wasn’t enough, it has the ability to kill out of nowhere with the use of the divine spirit / topsy turvy or inner fire combo.
This week we try a deck I’ve wanted to play on the show for a while. Secret Odd Mage splashed into the scene after the nerfs and it is a pretty effective aggressive deck.
This week we try a deck suggested to us from long time listener Zer0Cruel. Secret Paladin has been around for as long as the game was released. We have both been playing to good success so we give it a spin.
As we begin season 5, we turn to arguably the most popular class in the meta. This version is a mash up of secret and midrange Hunter that can catch people off guard as they expect a different deck.
We made it to 4 consecutive years of podcasting. That is 208 weeks in a row! We are joined this week by long time friend of the show and fellow podcaster and caster Cora.
Can an old staple be the deck that gets Dan out of his woes? Warlock Zoo is a deck that has survived every meta and this egg version comes to us from Dog.
This week we try something different that I saw Thijs playing over the weekend. Pirate Rogue takes advantage of the new cards and pirate synergy for a fast paced and hopefully fun deck.
Episode 201 The Beginning of Rastakhan's Rumble
Dec 08, 2018
To get started with Ratakhan’s Rumble, we can’t help ourselves and try to get Ragnaros going. This even caused FRID to craft a golden jan’alai so he could craft a golden Rag.
I did this on the fly so the audio quality isn’t the best. I learned a lot, and the quality will only get better.
Episode 200 The End of Boomsday
Nov 29, 2018
This week we try an off the beaten path deck in Spiteful Priest. Since we are at the end of the Boomsday meta, we thought we play something fun and different, but still competitive.
Episode 198 Pre Dreamhack with Languagehacker!
Nov 14, 2018
This week, HCT’s Fall Champion Languagehacker returns to the show to share his experience and discuss tournament strategies. Oh yeah, and we will also play some Hearthstone.
Due to some technical difficulties the replays were not saved. We apologize and will bring back the feature next week. This episode is available on video so you can follow along there.
This week we go off the beaten path of tier 1 decks and take a detour to FRID’s favorite class with a deck that can still get some wins in the current meta.
We needed a change of pace in this very mature Boomsday meta so I found a legend egg paladin deck someone tweeted out and we are going to give it a shot.
This week we revisit a deck that has been lost in the meta but it is still as effective as ever. Even Shaman is an effective deck with significant staying power because of cards like Hagatha the witch.
This week, we return to a deck that has been in the meta for a while, now updated with a few Boomsday cards. Token Druid has the ability to overwhelm the opponent with wide boards that stick around and always threat burst damage with Savage Roar.
This week we play a version of deathrattle hunter that was Zalae put together and will be piloted by our guest languagehacker. He qualified for the HCT Fall Championships and will be playing for a spot in the World Championships.
This week we try an aggressive mage featuring a few new cards from Boomsday including Stargazer Luna, Cosmic Anomaly, and Shooting Star. Monsanto took this deck to #1 Legend and APXVoid is an avid player of a similar version of the deck.
It’s time for some SMOrc! Rexxar is back doing what he does best and smashing faces. This deck does have the alternative win condition of Deathstalker Rexxar, which allows it to go far against control decks.
Fellow podcaster Daring Alkaline joins us from the Daring Reporter Podcast. He coaches us through one of the most popular decks on the ladder, Odd Control Warrior.
This week we return to a deck that always finds it's way through the meta. Zoo Warlock is an undying archetype that has a special place in FRID's heart.
The Boomsday is here! Dan and FRID race to find a deck they could play with the cards they opened. We found a deck from professional player Pizza that leverages the Storm Bringer and looks like a lot of random fun. We'll see if we can make this work.
This week we try I deck I saw legendary hunter player deathsaterv3 play and achieve rank 1 Legend. I achieved Rank 5 non-legend with it after first returning to rank 3 with it. It is very fun and straightforward to pilot and has several favorable matchups.
This week we try a deck FRID has wanted to try for a few weeks, as he has been having some fun with it. This version comes from APXVoid and it is his take on Murloc Mage.
This week we take a look at a meta topper Even Shaman. Normally I (Dan) am not in charge of recording, so unfortunately mine and Zerotios levels are a little out of balance. Sorry I'll do better in the future.
This week we try a deck that I saw Thijs playing that combines the taunt druid with the old ramp druid. It can be weak against aggressive decks with strong starts but it has some of the most swingy turns in the game.
This week, we go back to Hunter, which we haven't tried since the release of Witchwood. This Hunter is a recruit based on a version that I saw This playing. Make sure you listen until the end, we steal a Shudderwock,.. shhhhh don't tell anyone.
We revisit this deck from a couple of weeks ago when we played it while Dan was on his honeymoon. Dan got pretty close to legend with it and FRID made legend with a version of this deck.
It's nerf day and we try a deck that many have predicted will be a mainstay in the new meta: Even Shaman. I grabbed an interesting list from hsreplay.net and we gave it a try.

Something strange happened and FRID crafted two legendary cards to play quest rogue. Dan has been playing this deck and FRID played it for the SHL league this week.
How To Defeat Depression and Anxiety — A Letter To A Listener In Need by Matt Bodnar Host of The Science of Success Podcast
This week we try a deck that has been around for a couple of months but continues to have one of the highest win rates in the meta. FRID is not a big fan, but when it works, it needs to be played. It also doesn't have many new cards, nor legendary, so most people can assemble it.
Dan is still on the road and he asked me for a fast Rogue deck. The first thing that came to mind was the Odd Rogue that is terrorizing the ladder, so we give that a shot.
This week, we try our first Witchwood deck based on the cards we got. We play Odd Hunter featuring Baku and the Odd Hunter archetype. We go the aggressive route.
This week we go a different direction and play a more control oriented deck, with a fun end of game win condition. Thijs is at the very top of the ladder with this deck and our friend languagehacker also found some success with it on the ladder.
This week we try a modified version of the deck we played on Episode 159. It is a fairly standard secret mage with a few tools to help with aggressive matchups.
This week we are struck by nostalgia and play one of the old gods before they leave the standard rotation. It is a version of Summoner Druid featuring C'Thun.
Episode 162 Heavy Secret Hunter with Zerotio
Mar 07, 2018
This week we welcome our fellow podcaster and Patreon Tournament 8 Champion Zerotio. He is part of the Hero Power Podcast and brings a unique Hunter that led him to victory.
