    • This mastermind will include about 15 people and it will be hosted at his house for one to two days.
    • The goal is to launch an annual mastermind after this one, with hopes of doing a destination mastermind in the future.
    • If you follow Jason on his social media channels, you already know he launched a new texting community for his podcast listeners. See the Resource section for more information and how to sign up.
    • He plans to start doing 'AMA' episodes - Ask Me Anything - where he picks some of the most interesting questions and answers them on the podcast.
    • In 2022, Jason would like to partner with an aesthetics clinician and create a course to teach healthcare professionals how they can open a practice.
    • Lastly, Jason is building the HEA brand by using #HealthcareBoss on his social media channels. The hashtag represents the HEA community and healthcare professionals who are ready to change the trajectory of their personal and professional lives.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. On December 13, Jason is launching a 5-day challenge to help healthcare professionals learn the benefits of starting a cash-based practice. Participants will learn how this model avoids the billing challenges often associated with insurance.
    2. Jason recently launched a texting community where podcast listeners can message him personally, request podcast guests, and ask questions about entrepreneurship.
    3. Join the #HealthcareBoss tribe to learn how to build cash flow assets and create work/life balance.

#220: Tactical Tuesday: You Have What It Takes To Create Whatever You Want Nov 30, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast explains how and why you should leave your job if it no longer makes you happy. He shares his recommendations for looking at alternative career options and what types of changes to make. He also stresses the importance of changing your mindset to take the necessary steps to achieve your goals.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • There's not a lot of freedom or autonomy in the healthcare space anymore, but it's easier to stay in your current job (even if it makes you unhappy) because you've already invested time, money, and effort.
    • It's okay to be scared of change. Fear is innate and helps us survive risks.
    • If you're spending more than 20% of your time in an unhappy place and doing tasks you don't want to do, make a change.
    • Move away from pain to pleasure. Consider entrepreneurship, a new career, or a new employer. You'll know when it's time to make the change once you've exceeded your pain threshold.
    • Your personal assets are always at risk when you're employed or you're a contractor in the healthcare space.
    • Burnout causes mental and physical exhaustion. You lose interest in doing other activities because any free time is spent recovering.
    • Working in healthcare—especially if you work for an employer—can be very stressful because you need to be at peak performance levels at all times. Healthcare requires mental fortitude.
    • Jason's first business venture was an online training program to prepare for the nursing boards. After learning about ketamine, he opened a practice and later, launched an online course.
    • If you can learn medical skills, you can learn the necessary skills to make a transition.
    • Decide to make the change - you don't have to tolerate what you're not happy with.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. The more burned out you are, the higher the chance of making mistakes on the job—and you cannot make any mistakes when you work in healthcare. If you make a mistake, you could get sued personally, professionally, and criminally.
    2. Do whatever you need to do to make yourself happier, to put yourself in a better situation, and to give yourself something to aspire towards.
    3. Make that decision to change and then put in the work!

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"You have to make the decision and relentlessly pursue alternatives because something will catch traction." - Jason Duprat

"You have what it takes to create whatever it is you want." - Jason Duprat

"Nothing will happen until you flip that switch in your mind." - Jason Duprat

#219: Travis Hornsby: Trust in your Biggest Investment - Yourself Nov 25, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks with Travis Hornsby, Founder of the Student Loan Planner, and Host of the Student Loan Planner podcast. Travis looks back on his journey as a bond trader-turned-business owner. He also offers advice on personal finance and scaling a sustainable business.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Inspired by his grandfather, Travis became interested in finance, graduated with a degree in economics, and traded bonds for a few years.
    • Travis "got his feet wet" as a bond trader. His market included cities and municipalities - he gave money to cities and states for building projects.
    • Travis launched Student Loan Planner in 2016 after helping his wife and friends figure out their six-figure loan debt. His business helps people with $20,000-$1 million in student debt by creating custom student loan plans and refinancing loans at a lower interest rate.
    • He scaled his business using the flywheel model. This model focuses on always pushing forward, putting in the repetition, and building momentum until you reach a breakthrough.
    • Travis explains what a bond is and what trading mutual funds look like.
    • He also discusses why he invests in index funds and why he became a chartered financial analyst.
    • When it comes to launching your business, start with low price points to build a reputation and then use your good ratings to justify market positioning and gradual rate increases.
    • Online content is an ideal way to attract customers and build profit. Creating and managing the content takes time so hire people and build a team.
    • Travis and Jason compare the flywheel method versus the venture capital method.
    • As an entrepreneur, set your goals based on lifestyle, impact, and profitability.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. Student Loan Planner aims to help people with 6-figure student loan debts get to a 6-figure net worth through investing.
    2. Be the best in the world for solving a specific problem and then reinvest.
    3. Don't be afraid to take risks because there are strategies to mitigate the risks. Focus on your goals and on what you can control.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"Human capital is so much more valuable than you realize." - Travis Hornsby

"If you're the best, you have to be able to back it up with a great reputation." - Travis Hornsby

"One of the benefits of entrepreneurship is that the upside potential is huge." - Jason Duprat

#218: Tactical Tuesday: Maximize Time & Income with Group Coaching & Online Learning Nov 16, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast explains why he no longer provides one-on-one coaching or consulting. He highlights the advantages of transitioning to group coaching and creating online courses to help scale your business.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • In late 2017 and early 2018, Jason offered one-on-one consulting for ketamine therapy to share his knowledge and pay it forward by helping others.
    • One-on-one consulting is a good business model yet it requires a great deal of time and it's not scalable.
    • Entrepreneurs should create assets, something that puts money into your wallet or bank account consistently.
    • Do not trade your time for money - this is the opposite of creating an asset.
    • Group coaching and online learning allow you to maximize your time while building assets because you get paid more per hour and you reach more people.
    • If you're just getting started in your business, Jason advises launching with one-on-one coaching to develop your craft and share stories. Once you master your craft, you can move to group coaching.
    • If you have a business that's 100% dependent on you and your ability to produce, you simply own your job.
    • Give yourself credit for the accomplishments you've achieved and then help others achieve the same thing.
    • Turn your superpower into a business that can generate $5-10k per month. For Jason, his side hustle in ketamine therapy blew up. He now offers three online courses - the Cash-Based Practice course, the Ketamine Infusion Therapy Program, and the IV Nutrient Therapy Program. The Ketamine and the IV programs generate more than six figures per month.
    • Jason has a new course coming online - the Course Creator Academy. If you're interested in being notified for enrollment, please reference the first link in the Resource section.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. You can charge more for one-on-one coaching, however, this model requires a great deal of time. If you continuously trade your time for money, the business you're building is not a real asset.
    2. If you do group coaching and combine this with an online course, you're paid substantially more for a fraction of your time.
    3. A services business is easy (and fun!) to get up and running. Structure it around your area of expertise and help other people achieve what you've already accomplished.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"That's what it boils down to... I didn't want to continue trading my time for dollars, and I also wanted to create an asset and build a real business." - Jason Duprat

"Once you start to train your mind to think like a business person... you'll start to pinpoint all sorts of different areas of inefficiencies in your business... even your personal life..." - Jason Duprat

#217: Cassie Lane: Build Your Own Botox Business Nov 11, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks with Cassie Lane, CRNA, DNAP, and Founder of Injectables EDU. She shares how she opened her aesthetics practice, correcting misconceptions about Botox and fillers. She also offers advice for nurse practitioners who are looking to get into this industry.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Cassie started working at the early age of 15 at a day spa. She became a CRNA in 2012 and currently works part-time as a 1099 and at her aesthetics practice.
    • Cassie believes CRNAs are well-suited for aesthetics because they know how to use needles safely, work procedurally, and they understand anatomy.
    • A friend of hers inspired her to get into the aesthetics business, however, she faced difficulties while getting started. This included misguided and untrustworthy information about injections.
    • Cassie saw a need to provide a reputable, reliable educational resource so she created her own online and in-person training program.
    • Her business, Injectables EDU, provides business, legal, and training resources, including information on state regulations.
    • She also created a comparative analysis to help you choose the best botox and dermal filler courses.
    • When you own an aesthetics practice, clients will initially ask for Botox. Once they learn more about your clinic's expertise, you can expand your service offer. It's not about selling - it's about educating.
    • Jason and Cassie highly recommend the lean startup model, starting small and aligning growth with achievable business milestones.
    • Her practice is cash-based so she doesn't accept insurance.
    • Guerilla marketing on social media platforms, especially Facebook, is a way to get clients to your website if you don't have the budget for paid ads.
    • Cassie recommends SCORE for accessing free resources to plan, launch, and grow your business and to learn from a pool of mentors as well.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. Cassie started Injectables EDU to provide reliable information and resources for anyone interested in opening an aesthetics practice.
    2. There's a great deal of skepticism when it comes to Botox because there are many unlicensed injectors. Be the expert and educate clients.
    3. Contact your state or national professional association for assistance learning about state laws for starting an aesthetics business that's within your scope of practice. Also, speak with a malpractice lawyer who has experience in dealing with med spas and aesthetics.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"You have to do a lot of training - but you have to start somewhere." - Cassie Lane

"Truly understand injectables from the bottom up. We're medical providers and this is an aesthetic treatment." - Cassie Lane

#216: Tactical Tuesday: Evaluating High-Level Mastermind Programs to Show Up & Level Up Nov 02, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast explains why high-level mastermind coaching programs offer a ton of value. He shares features of the $25k mastermind he recently signed up for with Russell Brunson. He also offers advice for people who are considering joining a coaching program, highlighting the importance of taking action.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • A master's or doctorate course can cost $2,000 up to $7,000, however, a lot of the information is outdated and not applicable in the real world.
    • Mastermind programs provide relevant information and resources because they're often taught by people who are in the thick of running a business.
    • Enroll in a mastermind led by someone who's where you're aspiring to be, and focus on the ROI instead of the sticker price.
    • Jason enrolled in Brunson's entry-level program, Two Comma Club X because he wants to network with like-minded people.
    • The program provides a year of coaching and training and includes an online course, two different types of coaches, a focused path (E-commerce or expert), two in-person events, and a weekly live lesson with an instructor.
    • Participants are assigned a 'momentum coach' to help adjust their mindset and a 'progress coach' who reiterates lesson content and answers questions.
    • Making plans and reading books is a good way to get started, but you need to commit and keep pushing to get results.
    • If what you're doing every day doesn't excite you, get out of that situation or environment. Get pumped for the future and dive in!

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. High-level coaching programs are almost always led by someone who's successfully running a business. They come with extra support, and you can connect with other like-minded individuals.
    2. These high-level programs give you the tools you need to overcome obstacles and get in the right mindset to take your business to the next level.
    3. Don't look at mastermind programs as an expense but as an investment. Keep taking action to move yourself and your business forward.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"As you invest more, you get more." - Jason Duprat

"All sorts of cool things could happen if you show up and do the work." - Jason Duprat

#215: Blair Thielemier: Helping Pharmacists Become Entrepreneurial Consultants Oct 28, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks with Blair Thielemier, PharmD, and founder of Pharmapreneur Academy and the Elevate Pharmacy Virtual Summit. Blair talks about the ups and downs of her transition from employee to entrepreneur, highlighting the importance of working with a mentor. She also discusses the challenges of starting a consulting business and a virtual summit, offering advice for people who want to venture into these startup areas.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Blair knew early on she wanted to work in healthcare, and it was her love for biochemistry and physiology that led her to become a pharmacist.
    • After pharmacy school, she worked for a small independently-owned community pharmacy. Eventually, she wanted to do something more challenging so she switched to a clinical hospital role.
    • When she lost her job in 2014, Blair found support from a network of independent community pharmacies. She was six months pregnant and picked up PRN shifts. As a result, this is the community she now serves and helps through her online academy and virtual summit.
    • Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is an umbrella term for the variety of services pharmacists offer. Pharmacists conduct a comprehensive review and suggest interventions for patients. Ultimately, MTM is what reignited Blair's passion.
    • She's an advocate for pharmacists because, at the federal level, they're not recognized as healthcare providers.
    • After giving up a director position to launch her pharmacy consulting business, Blair dove into business podcasts and worked with a mentor to put her in the right mindset.
    • Healthcare professionals tend to fall back on certifications and more education, but entrepreneurship is a challenge because there's no curriculum or rule book to follow.
    • Blair grew her email list to 100 people and decided to launch the Pharmapreneur Academy in 2015. She had eight people sign up as her beta group. The course was $297 and offered six lessons.
    • She then doubled the enrollment and added a seventh course on chronic care management based on requests from the beta group. And after this session, she switched to a membership model for the online academy.
    • After finding inspiration from a podcast and learning from other experts at virtual summits, Blair launched the Elevate Pharmacy Virtual Summit in 2017 and it's been held every year since then.
    • The benefits of going virtual include being able to launch events during the pandemic and scaling your message as a healthcare professional.
    • Find a mentor/coach who's doing what you want to do and don't be afraid to pay them for their expertise. If you feel uncomfortable, that's a sign you're on the right path.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. A full-time job is not a guarantee you'll have a stable career. Have a backup plan in case life decides to throw you a curveball. Consider starting your own business and taking ownership of your time and freedom.
    2. Pharmapreneur Academy provides pharmacists with a framework to leverage their skills as consultants. It started with one-on-one coaching programs and courses before shifting to a membership site.
    3. The Elevate Pharmacy Virtual Summit gives pharmacists a voice and adequate representation, averaging 1500-2000 attendees each year.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"Maybe my purpose in entrepreneurship is to have an impact on patients throughout the country." - Blair Thielemier

[Leverage your knowledge in a new way." - Blair Thielemier

"Pharmacists—at the core of what we do—are very entrepreneurial, very innovative, and very community-centered." - Blair Thielemier

#214: Tactical Tuesday: My #1 Production Hack to Alleviate Stress & Remain Organized Oct 19, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks about the importance of staying organized and shares what he's learned after years of running a business. He also discusses a great software tool that will help you manage your projects, team, and communications more efficiently.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • When you run your own business, it's important to get your to-dos done and remain organized.
    • Systemizing is a must. This can be a struggle and for Jason, it took a few years to learn how to streamline tasks.
    • Projects aren't stressful; the details are. Become a production expert and alleviate stress. One great software tool to help you do this is Asana.
    • For example, when Jason has a new lesson for a course, he creates the main task within Asana and then adds subtasks. He can include links in the task description and within each task, assign followers so team members remain in the loop.
    • Communicating via email can be confusing and it can quickly create disorganization when several people are involved in a single project. This is particularly true if you're working with dozens of contractors, freelancers, and staff.
    • Asana alleviates this chaos by centralizing the work and communications associated with team projects.
    • Asana can be used to organize personal tasks as well, which is something Jason does. When you log in to the dashboard, you can easily see your to-do list for the day.

    3 KEY POINTS:

    1. Making mental to-do lists, using sticky notes, or keeping track of tasks through a calendar is fine but having a systematized way to handle everything that needs to get done for your business is an absolute must.
    2. Asana is one of the best software tools Jason uses across multiple projects. One of the benefits is you can create teams and manage communications for specific projects within the software program.
    3. Letting a software program organize your tasks or to-do lists leaves your mind free to think and work more creatively.

    TWEETABLE QUOTES:

"You need to be organized in order to lead an effective and organized team." - Jason Duprat

"As the business owner, you are setting the direction for where you're going." - Jason Duprat

#213: Ankit Gupta: Overcoming the Stigma of Opioid Addiction Using Telemedicine Oct 14, 2021
    Show notes

    OVERVIEW:

Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks with Ankit Gupta, founder, and CEO of Bicycle Health. Ankit looks back on his experiences with Pulse News and LinkedIn, sharing advice for people thinking about starting their own business. He talks about launching Bicycle Health and his passion for treating opioid use disorder.

    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Ankit grew up in Mumbai, India. He always enjoyed writing code and programming. He discovered his passion for user-centric design while working on his master's at Stanford.
    • Ankit noticed when people read news online, they had to open and toggle between different tabs across various publications. To solve this problem, he created the mobile app Pulse News.
    • Pulse News started as a standalone app and later became the foundation for LinkedIn's news feed, which creates a personalized newspaper for users.
    • When it comes to solving a problem, Ankit advises entrepreneurs to take user feedback to heart.
    • He also believes a small team of dedicated people can create more value than a company with hundreds of employees.
    • Ankit worked at LinkedIn for 3 years, integrating the news app and also working on startup projects on the B2B side of the company.
    • He left LinkedIn and traveled for two years, pursuing educational opportunities and spending time with his family. During these two years, he learned about the problems in healthcare and technology while working on a project with a nonprofit in India.
    • He launched Bicycle Health to treat opioid use disorder utilizing telemedicine. Ankit learned about the problems surrounding this disorder while shadowing an anesthesiologist.
    • A special license is needed to prescribe suboxone. Clinics offering this treatment can only treat 30 to 100 patients in the first year—275 patients max after that.
    • Ankit was the initial developer of Bicycle Health, but more than writing code, he enjoyed growing the business.
    • COVID accelerated the demand for telemedicine. Regulations have changed as well so Bicycle Health works with a law firm to be able to meet this demand.
    • Ankit created a nonprofit, Docs and Hackers, to improve the practice of medicine with technology.

    3 KEY POINTS:
