Both Alexis and Justin are proud foster care alumni as well as recent graduates, authors, and business owners. Together, they've created ROSE (Rising Over Societal Expectations) Empowerment Group, a company structured to close the information gap for young adults as well as The Scholarship Expert where they support students to graduate debt-free while obtaining the skills needed to be successful. Now, they are releasing Redefining Normal: How Two Foster Kids Beat The Odds and Discovered Healing, Happiness and Love to share their story of how they've had to redefine what love and healthy relationships look like.

Justin Black created the Rising Over Societal Expectations (ROSE) Empowerment Group with a vision to close the information gap for today’s generation of Black and Brown young adults after his experiences as a Black male in the foster care system. He has also developed policy recommendations while working with the National Black Child Development Institute resulting in a publication titled The State of the Black Child Report Card: Washington State.

Black studied urban and community development as well as a political and economic philosophy in countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal, and South Korea. In his spare time, Justin loves watching sports and enjoys hot wings.

He aspires to challenge and expand the ideologies of how to build prosperous communities through interdependence and entrepreneurship.

Alexis Black is a proud foster care alumni. She founded The Scholarship Expert where she authored The Scholarship Blueprint book and workbook along with an online course to assist students in graduating from college debt-free. She is also a foster care advocate working for the National Youth and Transition Database Reviewer.

Alexis helps fundraise for programs supporting foster youth such as Hope Pkgs, the Seita Scholars program, and The Nsoro Foundation. She’s studied abroad eight times during her undergraduate career in countries such as Hong Kong, South Korea, and South Africa. She also co-developed two study abroad programs. Alexis aspires to be a positive example for foster youth.

A Los Angeles native and self proclaimed studio-brat, Carolyn has been in over 100 theatrical productions spanning the LA, regional and international theatre scenes. If you ask her nicely she’ll recite the list of her plays for you and then she’ll recite it again…backwards. Having trained at American Conservatory Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London as well as earning a dramatic scholarship to the California State University at Northridge, she has played such distinguished houses as the Mark Taper Forum, Arizona Theatre Company and the Geary Stage. She also studied with the Groundlings in the early ‘90s and became a member of the Sunday Company. From there she moved to the main company at the ACME Comedy Theatre and was a founding member of the all-female improv troupe, “Ovaryaction”. She is the 2001 recipient of the prestigious Natalie Schafer Award for Outstanding Comedic Actress given by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and has been featured as an “Actor’s Actor” in the industry publication Backstage-West. Among other accolades, the LA Stage Alliance has honored her with an Ovation Award, which she hosted in 2011, and in 2010 she added the words “Emmy nominated” (General Hospital) to her list of achievements.

Most recently, Carolyn dazzled as the deliciously vicious “Rosalyn Harris” on Alan Ball’s critically acclaimed HBO series TRUE BLOOD. Hennesy joined the cast for the fifth season of the sleek vampires-meet-world saga and fast became a fan favorite. As Rosalyn, the ageless vamp with a Texas twang, Hennesy was at the top of her game, tossing one-liners like firecrackers, occasionally enjoying a juicy stake, and gleefully partaking in old-timey interrogation.

Prior to TRUE BLOOD, Hennesy is best known for her memorable work as “Barb Coman” on ABC’s COUGAR TOWN and for an Emmy nominated run as “Diane Miller” on ABC’s GENERAL HOSPITAL. Kids across America also know her as the hilariously haughty Mrs. Chesterfield on Disney Channel’s JESSIE. On the big screen, Hennesy’s credits include CLICK starring Adam Sandler, LEGALLY BLONDE 2 with Reese Witherspoon, and TERMINATOR 3 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Hennesy’s creative endeavors also include a successful career as a writer. She created the wildly popular “Pandora” (Bloomsbury USA) children’s book series as well as penned the New York Times Bestseller “The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli” (Hyperion). To see more, click on “Books.”

When not on set, Hennesy is privileged to lend her time and talent to a number of causes including caring for our wounded warriors and helping those with debilitating physical issues regain their self-esteem, but chief among all causes is the issue of animal rescue.

Best known for her role as Valene Ewing on the primetime soap opera Knots Landing, she is a life member of The Actors Studio. She made her Broadway debut in 1966 in Barefoot in the Park. In 1971, she received a Theatre World Award and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for the revival of The School for Wives.

Ms. Van Ark landed her most famous role, Valene Ewing, in 1978, first on the CBS series Dallas, then for 13 seasons on its spin-off Knots Landing (1979–92). For this role, she won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Actress in 1986 and 1989. She left the show in 1992, although she did return for the final episode of the series in 1993 and for the 1997 miniseries Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-de-Sac. In 1985, she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination as host of the Tournament of Roses Parade on CBS. From 2004 to 2005, she starred in the soap opera The Young and the Restless. She reprised her role of Valene in an episode of the new Dallas series in 2013 and has been in numerous movies and TV shows, including “Touched By an Angel”, “The Nanny”, and “Nip/Tuck”.

Critics have called Geoffrey Mark a walking encyclopedia of show business history. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised all over the country, Mr. Mark has spent his entire life in one part of show business or another. He has been appeared off-Broadway and in summer stock, been a singer and stand-up comedian in New York nightclubs and cabarets as well as on cruise ships, the proud recipient of an Emmy Award and a Grammy Award nomination, hosted two radio series in Los Angeles, writes comedy for several stand-up comedians, writes and produces documentaries and reality shows for cable television, as well as hosted two radio series of his own as well as several special programs on radio and television. Mr. Mark is also in demand as a performer in nightclubs, on cruise ships and for corporate events.

His books are the best selling The Lucy Book, and Ethel Merman: The Biggest Star on Broadway, as well as The Family Affair Cookbook. His newest book is Ella: A Biography of Legendary Ella Fitzgerald. Geoffrey is the producer of Nigel: Come Back to Me, a CD with a seventeen piece Big Band, and directed Spirit of the King, an Elvis show at the Spa Casino in Palm Springs.

Allen Klein is a pioneer in gelotology and the therapeutic humor movement. In 1974, Klein's wife was only 34 years old when she died of liver disease, and the aspect where she had kept her sense of humor all the way to the end inspired Klein to give up his previous career as a theater and television scene designer and to study human development. Lucius Baston is an American actor from Queens, New York. He is known for best known for his roles in Atlanta, Lovecraft Country and The Underground Railroad.

The younger of two boys, Baston started entertaining at the age of 11 years old as a disc jockey (DJ) for community and school events. Later on through multiple changes in profession, Baston sparked a new interest in an acting career by gazing upon head-shots from a fellow friend. Since 2005, he started the progression of his roles on screen.

After working as a DJ in his youth, Baston joined the United States Air Force for eleven years. He later proceeded to pursue a career in electronics, and then on the air as a radio broadcaster. After these endeavors, Baston went on to making a career in the acting industry. He started by going to the Performers Studio Workshop where he honed in on his skills.

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Academy Award Winning Actor, George Chakiris.

He is best known for his appearance in the 1961 film version of West Side Story as Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks gang, for which he won both the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture.

West Side Story had been running for a year on Broadway, and Chakiris auditioned for Jerome Robbins. He was cast in the London production as Riff, leader of the Jets. The musical launched on the West End in late 1958, and Chakiris received excellent reviews, playing it for almost 22 months. The Mirisch Brothers bought the film rights to West Side Story and tested Chakiris. They ended up feeling his dark complexion made him more ideal for the role of Bernardo, leader of the Sharks, and cast Russ Tamblyn as Riff.

The film of West Side Story (1961) was hugely successful, and Chakiris won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

In the early 1960s, he embarked on a career as a pop singer, resulting in a couple of minor hit songs. In 1960, he recorded one single with noted producer Joe Meek.

He has given occasional television interviews since then but is mostly retired. His hobby of making sterling silver jewelry has turned into a new occupation, working as a jewelry designer for his own brand, George Chakiris Collections, consisting of handmade original sterling silver jewelry.

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Peter Cunnah and Al Mackenzie of British Pop/Rock and Dance Band, D:Ream

D:Ream is an Irish/English pop rock and dance group. They had a UK No. 1 hit with "Things Can Only Get Better" in 1994 as well as eight more top 40 hits.[1] They released three albums, two of which reached the UK top five.[1] The group had an all-male line-up which varied in number, but mainly centred on lead singer Peter Cunnah. The live band included keyboard player Brian Cox, who is now a renowned cosmologist and a television presenter; although Cunnah, as the only official member, normally played keyboards (along with all other instruments) on studio recordings.
