    HMP | Episode 11 | #FREEHAITI Mar 23, 2021
    Show notes

After an unplanned break, the HMP crew is back with episode 11. A lot happened but one topic was a MUST to discuss. #FREEHAITI: The hashtag was born out of collective frustration and helplessness, springing to life in a shocking act of violence: a botched raid on a gang stronghold in a Port-au-Prince neighbourhood that left at least four Haitian police officers dead, another missing, and their armed vehicles and high-caliber automatic weapons seized. The crew did not simply want to chat from their perspectives so they invited Pablo JeanBaptist, the host of HMI Live who has been following the situation developing in Haiti closely to shed light on what is happening. This episode is not full of jokes and relatable Haitian Millennial stories per usual, but it is rich with a conversation much needed for our generation of Haitian Americans. Hope you enjoy it and kindly share your thoughts with us on our Instagram @HatianMlillennialPodcast .

    Thank you for listening

As promised, every 5th episode we will be on location, and this time the crew was at Kalalou restaurant in Orlando Florida. To start the pod, the crew acknowledged the Kanaval season that happened by playing a popular record by King posse. Then, Gigi gave a recap of her birthday celebration which was well spent. The crew received their creative award for 2020 for podcast of the year from Haitian Who Blog. They did the unboxing live and all of the emotions were on display as receiving the physical award is so rewarding during our era! Then the crew got into the topic, which was the etiquette of our culture and our mannerisms. The conversation also steered towards the concept of "pèpè" which is thrifting in Haiti and how there are no systems as profitable in comparison to the US. lastly, the crew discussed the sense of style in certain parts of Haiti due to the lack of role models in that department. Overall Kalalou was an awesome host and the crew got into their bag about the creative culture as a Haitian Millennial.

    Thank you all for listening!
