    89. Praying the Armor of God: Stand Firm in His Strength | Guided Prayer Oct 19, 2026
    Show notes

What do you do when you’ve done everything you know to do—and you still can’t fix what’s happening?

I’ve been there. During a season of grief and uncertainty, one word in Ephesians 6 stopped me in my tracks: might. “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”

In this solo episode, I’m sharing discoveries that changed the way I understand spiritual strength and putting on the armor of God. Together, we’ll explore how to receive God’s provision, put it into practice, and trust Him with what we cannot control.

We’ll also take time to pray through each piece of the armor together. Bring whatever is weighing on your heart, and join me as we turn to God for the strength He provides.

    In this episode, we’ll explore:
    • Why Paul directs us to God’s strength before describing the armor
    • How putting on the armor becomes a way of living in relationship with Christ
    • What the words “full,” “of God,” and “take up” reveal about His provision and our response
    • How prayer connects biblical truth with the circumstances we’re facing
    • A practical way to stand firm when fear, doubt, or discouragement resurfaces

    Your Habit of Hope:
Stand firm in His strength. Identify one area where you need God’s help, consider which part of His armor you need to put into practice, and pray specifically about that need. When the struggle resurfaces, return to His strength again.

    Continue praying:
I’ve created a free Armor of God Prayer printable and journal page to help you reflect on what God is showing you and bring your own needs before Him.

    88. The Hidden Beauty of Tears: Finding Hope in Grief with Travis Craver Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

What if your tears reveal more than pain? What if they express love, longing, compassion—and a prayer you haven't found the words to say?

In this episode of Habits of Hope, Ginger Harrington and Larissa Traquair welcome Dr. Travis Craver, author of The Hidden Beauty of Tears: Discovering Joy and God's Guiding Hand, for an honest conversation about grief, faith, and how God meets us in our pain.

Drawing from the loss of his nephew and father, Travis shares why grief doesn't follow a predictable timeline and why we don't have to force closure. Together, we explore the meaning of our tears, the losses we sometimes overlook, and the comfort of knowing Jesus entered Mary and Martha's sorrow—even when He knew resurrection was coming.

Whether you're grieving someone you love, carrying the loss of a dream, or supporting a hurting friend, this conversation makes room for both sorrow and hope.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Why grief can include sadness, numbness, anger, gratitude, and joy

    • Why remembering someone we love isn't necessarily a step backward

    • How tears can become a form of prayer when words are no longer enough

    • What Jesus' tears reveal about God's compassion

    • Why Christian hope rests in God's promises

    • A simple daily rhythm for staying connected to God

    87. Don’t Rush Past What God Has Done: 5 Reasons to Celebrate Sep 28, 2026
    Show notes

What if you’re so focused on what still needs to be done that you’re missing the good God has already done?

It’s easy to finish one thing and immediately move on to the next goal, responsibility, or problem to solve. But when so much of life never really feels finished, we can rush right past the faithfulness of God without stopping to notice, remember, and celebrate.

As Habits of Hope celebrates two years, Ginger and Larissa look back at what God has done—and discover five reasons celebration matters in our everyday lives.

In this episode, you’ll discover how celebration helps you:

    • Notice what God has already done
    • Remember His faithfulness
    • Acknowledge progress even when you’re not finished
    • Appreciate the people God has placed along the way
    • Build hope for what God will do next

You’ll also hear why Ginger nearly let the learning curve keep her from starting a podcast, what the creation story teaches us about stopping to recognize what is good, and how Larissa’s practice of celebration helped carry her through grief.

Celebration isn’t only for birthdays and big accomplishments. It’s a spiritual practice of remembering the goodness and faithfulness of God.

This week’s Habit of Hope: Mark the milestone.

You don’t have to be finished to celebrate how far God has brought you.

    Scriptures: Psalm 103:1–2, Psalm 126:3, Philippians 1:3, Philippians 1:6

Join us on the website for a special Birthday Giveaway!

And as Habits of Hope turns two, thank you for listening, sharing, praying, and growing with us. Help us celebrate two years of Habits of Hope! If the podcast has encouraged you, would you take a moment to leave a review and share Habits of Hope with a friend? Your reviews and shares help more people discover practical, biblical encouragement for growing hope—one habit at a time.

    86. Cultivating a Life You Love: Be All There Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

Are you present for your life—but not fully in it?

You’re sitting across from someone you love, but your mind is still working. You’re doing one thing while mentally moving on to the next. You’re replaying yesterday, planning tomorrow, or thinking about everything that still needs to get done.

    You’re there.

But your attention is somewhere else.

It happens so easily. Life is full of people to love, responsibilities to carry, decisions to make, and good work to do. We can faithfully show up for all of it and still find ourselves rushing through the very life God has given us.

In the final episode of the Cultivating a Life You Love series, Ginger explores three simple words that have become an important reminder and prayer in her own life:

    Be all there.

Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

We often hear this verse as a reminder that life is short. But what if numbering our days also has something to teach us about how we live the day that’s actually in front of us?

In this episode, Ginger brings the entire series together as she explores what it means to faithfully inhabit the life God has entrusted to you. She shares how divided attention shows up in her own life, why being present requires more than simply slowing down, and how this biblical wisdom applies even when the season you’re living is difficult.

And this isn’t another message about doing more or trying harder.

It’s about learning to recognize where your attention has gone—and returning to God, to the people in front of you, and to what matters most in the life you’re living right now.

You’ll also come away with a simple Habit of Hope you can begin practicing this week.

Because a life you love isn’t found. It’s cultivated.

    85. Cultivating a Life You Love: Nurturing What Brings Life Sep 14, 2026
    Show notes

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I used to…”?

I used to paint. I used to love brownies. I used to read just because I enjoyed it.

Sometimes the things that once brought life to us don’t disappear because we stopped caring. Life simply became full.

As we faithfully care for family, work, ministry, relationships, and the responsibilities God has given us, parts of the person he created us to be can slip into the background. And sometimes we begin to assume that because something doesn’t fit right now, it no longer matters.

In this episode of Cultivating a Life You Love, Ginger explores what Psalm 1 and Psalm 139 show us about remaining rooted in God while also nurturing the unique ways he created us to receive and express his grace.

This isn’t about reclaiming every old hobby, recreating a former season, or adding another expectation to an already full life. It’s about discernment: What is God growing in you now, and where might he be inviting you to make room for what brings life?

    In this episode, you’ll discover:

    • Why a full season can cause life-giving parts of ourselves to go dormant
    • What Psalm 1 teaches us about being rooted, nourished, and fruitful in every season
    • Why the unique ways God created you matter
    • The difference between laying something down for a season and deciding it no longer matters
    • How God can use the things that refresh your soul to become a gift to others
    • How one small step can make room for what belongs in this season

Habit of Hope: Make room for the places where God refreshes your soul.

    Ask God this week:

Where are you inviting me to receive your life more deeply in this season?

Is there a part of the person you created me to be that I’ve stopped nurturing?

You don’t need to get your old life back. Ask the Lord what fits this season—and take one small step toward what he is inviting you to nurture.

    84. Cultivating a Life You Love: Stop Waiting for Someday Aug 31, 2026
    Show notes

Cultivating a Life You Love: Stop Waiting for Someday

Someday we’ll take the trip. Someday we’ll invite people over. Someday we’ll finish the project or finally have time for the things we enjoy.

There’s wisdom in recognizing that not every dream belongs in every season. But sometimes we become so focused on tomorrow’s dreams that we overlook today’s gifts.

In Episode 84 of Habits of Hope, we’re continuing the Cultivating a Life You Love series with our fourth practice: EMBRACE.

Drawing from Psalm 118:24 and Ecclesiastes 3:12–13, discover what it means to embrace the life God is giving you today. We’ll talk about biblical gladness, why the pursuit of perfect can rob us of the present, and how the smallest version of a dream can still be a beautiful experience.

    THIS WEEK’S PRACTICE: EMBRACE

Begin your day with this simple prayer:

“Lord, help me receive today as Your gift.”

Then ask: What gift has God already placed in front of me today that I might otherwise overlook?

You don’t have to stop dreaming about tomorrow to embrace the life God is giving you today.

Some dreams may need to wait. But life doesn’t.

    83. Cultivating A Life You Love: Being More Present With People In Your Life Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

How well do you really know the people you love most—not just their schedules, responsibilities, and routines, but what’s happening beneath the surface?

It’s easy for our closest relationships to settle into the rhythms of everyday life. We talk about what needs to get done, where everyone needs to be, what’s for dinner, and what happened during the day. Those conversations are necessary—but sometimes we can spend a lot of time together without really seeing one another.

In Episode 3 of Cultivating a Life You Love, Ginger Harrington explores Philippians 1:9 and Paul’s prayer for a love that continues to grow in knowledge and discernment.

Because the truth is, the people we love aren’t standing still. They’re growing, changing, facing new challenges, discovering new things, and experiencing God’s work in their lives.

Familiarity isn’t the finish line of love.

In this episode, Ginger shares how attentiveness, good questions, and intentional listening can help us move beyond simply managing life together and create space for stronger, more meaningful relationships.

    In this episode:

    • Why relationships grow where attention is given
    • What Philippians 1:9 teaches us about a love that keeps growing
    • How familiarity can unintentionally replace attentiveness
    • Why the people we know best still have more for us to discover
    • The difference between listening and immediately trying to fix or solve
    • How good questions can open the door to meaningful conversations
    • A simple Habit of Hope you can practice in any relationship: Ask Good Questions

This week’s invitation: Choose one person you love. Pray before you see them. Ask God to help you see them with fresh eyes. Then ask one good question—and make room to really listen.

    NEW: Good Questions Conversation Cards

This episode also inspired a practical resource to help you put this Habit of Hope into practice.

Good Questions is a printable set of 48 conversation cards designed to help you move beyond “How was your day?” and make room for conversations that matter.

Use them around the dinner table, over coffee, on a road trip, or anytime you want to connect more intentionally with your spouse, family, friends, or someone you’d simply like to know better.

    82. Cultivating a Life You Love: Receiving the Care of Your Shepherd (Psalm 23) Aug 17, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when running on empty starts to feel normal?

Many of us are good at giving, helping, carrying, and getting things done. Receiving can be harder. Yet Psalm 23 reminds us that we have a Shepherd who leads, provides, and restores. We were never meant to carry life alone.

In Episode 2 of the Cultivating a Life You Love summer series, Larissa Traquair explores what it means to receive God’s care instead of continually trying to restore yourself through more effort.

You’ll discover why receiving is an act of faith, how Psalm 23 shifts our attention from what we need to accomplish to what the Shepherd does for us, and how creating space for His care can help restore a weary soul.

    In this episode:

    • Recognizing when exhaustion has become your normal
    • What Psalm 23 teaches us about God as Shepherd
    • Why receiving requires trust
    • Releasing what God never asked you to carry
    • Making room for God to lead, provide, and restore
    • A practical Habit of Hope to help you receive His care today

    Scripture: Psalm 23:1–3 ESV

Habit of Hope: Make space to receive. Pray: “Lord, You know what I need today. I trust You to restore my soul. Show me what that looks like today.”

    81. Cultivating a Life You Love: Paying Attention to What Matters Aug 11, 2026
    Show notes

What if cultivating a life you love begins by paying attention to the life you’re already living?

It’s easy to move through our days focused on what needs to get done while missing the people, moments, and gifts God has placed right in front of us. In this first episode of our Cultivating a Life You Love series, we’re exploring the first rhythm: Notice.

Drawing from Ephesians 5:15–16, we’ll talk about what it means to live wisely and intentionally—not by doing more, but by becoming more attentive to God’s presence and what matters most in this season.

    In this episode, you’ll discover:

    • Why paying attention is an important part of living wisely
    • How hurry and distraction can keep us from noticing what matters
    • What Jesus teaches us about being present to people and moments
    • How small, intentional choices shape the life we’re living
    • A simple Habit of Hope to help you practice greater attentiveness this week

“The life you long for is shaped in the life you’re living today.”

    A New Companion Devotional Journal

Want to go deeper as you listen to the series? The new Cultivating a Life You Love Guided Journal is a book-style companion devotional journal created to help you put each of the six rhythms into practice.

Each chapter includes Scripture, devotional teaching, prayer, reflection questions, a Habit of Hope, and space to journal—plus bonus planning and reflection pages. Use it alongside the podcast or work through it at your own pace.

80.Trusting God Through Doubt and Grief: The Story Behind Kelsey Chadwick's Where Else Could I Go? Jun 09, 2026
    Show notes

Today's guest, Lesa Watson, is the mother of Kelsey Chadwick — a woman who spent the last year of her life wrestling honestly with doubt, going back to the word of God, and writing everything she found there into a book called Where Else Could I Go? Kelsey passed away unexpectedly before the book released. The manuscript was already at the publisher when she died.

In this conversation, Lesa shares Kelsey's story with extraordinary grace: the cancer diagnosis Kelsey quietly hid to protect a family vacation, the five-day writing retreat where the whole book poured out of her, the voice memos her husband found on her phone after she was gone, and the last words Kelsey said before she lost consciousness — words that have stayed with everyone who heard them.

But this episode isn't only about loss. It's about what it means to build a faith that holds before the hard day arrives. Lesa talks about her own practice of studying the character of God — and how that knowledge sustained her when scripture itself wasn't sinking in. She shares the two verses she has posted in her home, the eternal hope that shapes how her family grieves, and the single truth she most wants listeners to carry away from Kelsey's words.

Key moments in this episode include the power of returning to the source when questions overwhelm us; Kelsey's story of nine months of medical uncertainty and how it became a journey deeper into faith; how Lesa holds grief and hope together without pretending either is smaller than it is; scriptures that have anchored her — Romans 8:28 and Psalm 31:14; and the profound comfort of knowing eternal life begins not at death, but at the moment you say yes to Christ.

If you're carrying questions you don't know what to do with, or sitting with a loss that hasn't resolved itself into neat answers, this conversation is for you. Share it with a friend who might need it. The questions are okay. And there is still a place to bring them.
