Water Music with Rita from Fort Worth Public Library! Jul 16, 2020
    Show notes

On today’s episode of H2OMG, we talk with Rita Alfaro, a music librarian at the Fort Worth Public Library all about water music. And if you thought I could go a whole episode without mentioning Creedence Clearwater Revival, boy were you wrong!

Rita and I discuss the unique job of a music librarian and all the awesome (and virtual) events happening all the time at the Fort Worth Public Library. If you don’t follow them on Facebook already, you really should. Just search Fort Worth Public Library and check out their events section. We discuss Rita’s music and book club Off the Record: Spinster reads which takes place every other monday.

The library even has a virtual Dungeons & Dragons game going on so if you listened to our water conservation-based D&D adventure with Drippy the Water Wizard and want to participate in an adventure of your own, you can do that with the library! I’ll put all these links in the show notes for anyone interested.

We also discuss our shared love of professional wrestling. I want to give another shout-out to friend-of-the-show, and my personal hero, Asuka, the Empress of Tomorrow who wrestles with WWE. She has an H2OMG t-shirt and can even be seen wearing it in some of her YouTube videos. Also shoutout to one of Rita’s favorite wrestlers, Kenny Omega, who doesn’t follow us on Twitter but maybe he will now?

A huge thanks to Rita for taking the time to talk with us. Hope you enjoy the episode! Thanks for listening.

Sprinkler Spruce Up: LIVE Ask the Experts Q&A! Jun 03, 2020
    Show notes

We present to you the first ever LIVE episode of H2OMG! Well, it’s not live to you. You’re listening to a recording, BUT it is a recording of a Facebook LIVE we did on 5/29/20 where two of our experts on irrigation, Jimmy Burgdorf and Fernando Morales, answer any and all questions you have about irrigation systems.

We are also proud to say that this is our first ever bilingual episode! We answered all questions in both English & Spanish.

So if you’ve got a sprinkler system in your lawn, we’ve got some great tips for you on how to save a lot of water and a lot of money.

If you want to watch the original Facebook Live video and see some of the sprinkler parts and accessories Jimmy and Fernando talk about, check it out https://youtu.be/k1k_YNHVI94.

Conserving Water at Home, Featuring Lorena! May 13, 2020
    Show notes

Lorena and John-Michael hit “the streets” to talk with people about how they conserve water at home!

You may remember Lorena from episode 12, The Next Generation of Water Hero. Lorena is Hilda’s daughter, and you may remember Hilda from a bunch of episodes including the one we just did on the Mandy Moore movie, 47 Meters Down.

Lorena had a day off from school last October and she wanted to roam the streets with a microphone to find out how people save water at home. It was a great idea that Lorena had and it would have worked except it started raining the very moment we stepped outside. Plus it was really cold. Nobody wanted to talk to us or even take the free candy we walked around with in a plastic pumpkin. (It was right before halloween so it wasn’t weird). So we ended up roaming around city hall and talking to people inside and getting some great tips on how to conserve water at home.

    H2OMG Drippy's Drive-In: 47 Meters Down Apr 29, 2020
    Show notes

On Drippy’s Drive-In episodes of H2OMG we talk about movies that feature water prominently. And this week’s movie has the most water per capita of ANY movie we’ve covered so far, I GUARANTEE IT!

The movie we discuss is 47 Meters Down starring Mandy Moore and a bunch of other people we didn’t bother to look up! Almost the entire movie takes place underwater when Mandy Moore and her sister get trapped 47 meters below the surface of the ocean (hence the title) in a shark cage and they’re running out of air! Did we mention they don’t even know how to scuba dive? Because they definitely don’t.

Will Mandy survive the deadly sharks? Will Stewart (her ex boyfriend) take her back? Will you remember any of the character’s names? Probably not.

This episode includes MAJOR SPOILERS so be sure to watch the movie first unless you’re like Michele and actually like spoilers. Weirdo.

    Drippy's Drive-In: DUNE (1984) Apr 15, 2020
    Show notes

On Drippy’s Drive-In episodes of H2OMG we talk about movies that feature water prominently. Well this week’s movie has almost no water in it at all, which means that WATER IS SUPER IMPORTANT!

The movie we discuss is, of course, David Lynch’s Dune from 1984, starring Kyle MacLachlan and Kyle MacLachlan’s hair! For those of you keeping track at home of how many times we mention his hair, let me just tell you that we lost count but the numbers are in the double digits. Water is so important in this movie because almost all of it takes place on the desert planet of Arrakis, where there has never been a single drop of rain.

Join us on this journey as we talk about this incredibly strange movie
