124. Backing Dummies Feb 08, 2022

Show notes

Sometimes when you don't have the right equipment or not happy with the options to buy then you just have to get creative and make your own. Joe Finney of River Roan Kennels decided to take pointer backing dummies to the next level. Joe was fedup with typical backing dummies and plywood cutouts so he developed the most realistic looking backing dummy that is made to real breed specific sizes and weighs next to nothing. I enjoy examples such as this because not everyone has the same equipment. Maybe you just have to start making your own and then maybe it eventually turns into a little side hustle as well!

Jim Burris joins us this week to discuss probably the most under appreciated upland species to hunt. What exactly are Snipe and Rail? Where can they be found? Are they enjoyable to hunt and work with your dog? How do they taste? I try to milk Jim for as much information as I can considering you dont hear much about it. Let us know if youll be chasing some of these soon or if you have another bird you think is more deserving of the "most under appreciated" reputation!
