GSMC Bible Study Podcast Episode 43: 14th Sunday After Pentecost (9-10-17) Sep 10, 2017
    Show notes

Sarah talks about the texts assigned for September 10, 2017, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost: Ezekiel 33:7-11, Exodus12:1-14, Psalm 119:33-40, Romans 13:8-14, Matthew 18:15-20. She looks at how the gospel reading talks about community and how we live in community when we disagree with others or are hurt by the actions of others. Jesus gives advice for this and reminds us that where 2 or 3 are gathered in his name he is present among them.

Follow the GSMC Bible Study Podcast at http://www.gsmcpodcast.com/bible-study.html

The Gospel text is actually not the one assigned for that Sunday, but is Jesus' Sermon on the Mount where he gives many descriptions of those who are blessed and why. What do you think of when you hear the word blessed? How have you been blessed in your life? Do Jesus's descriptions of the blessed resonate or put you off?

Follow the GSMC Bible Study Podcast at http://www.gsmcpodcast.com/bible-study.html

GSMC Bible Study Podcast Episode 39: 10th Sunday After Pentecost (8-13-17) Aug 13, 2017

Sarah reads the assigned texts for the 10th Sunday after Pentecost: 1 Kings 19:9-18, Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28, Psalm 85:8-13, Romans 10:5-15, and Matthew 14:22-33. She speaks some about the texts themselves but focuses more on the events that have happened over the past few days in Charlottesville, VA. Where is God in all of this? What is our response as faithful Christians when we see hate in the world? Ast trite as it may sound, what would Jesus do?

Follow the GSMC Bible Study Podcast at http://www.gsmcpodcast.com/bible-study.html

GSMC Bible Study Podcast Episode 38: 9th Sunday After Pentecost (8-6-17) Aug 06, 2017
    Show notes

The gospel tells the story of Jesus feeding a crowd of more than 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. This is extraordinary enough, but the example of Jesus reminds us of something else as well about God's love and the kingdom of heaven.

Follow the GSMC Bible Study Podcast at http://www.gsmcpodcast.com/bible-study.html
