Martim joins the show for an incredible podcast all about grow light science, how horticultural lighting is manufactured, and the future of lighting. Martim talks about the European lighting powerhouse Lumatek, and how the company evolved and changed multiple times- including with the creation of Photontek. Martim goes on to discuss why he settled on the PTK designs that they have, and why things like component choice and spectrum determine how grow lights perform differently. He also gives a fascinating take on the future of grow lighting, insisting that artificial intelligence, or specifically machine learning, will be the key to understanding and unlocking the optimal processes of lighting and cultivating cannabis plants.

For the next episode of Worldwide December we are headed all the way to Port Elizabeth, South Africa- this time to speak with long time cultivator and grow store owner Hugo! Hugo owns The Grobro in Port Elizabeth, and shares an overview of the entire South African cannabis scene. He goes on to discuss some of the most popular South African strains, such as those who were proliferated like Durban Poison, but also some of the nearby landrace strains from places like Malawi and others. He also shares the fable of the Rooibaard or "Redbeard" strain local to Southern Africa, but insists that it's hard to find the authentic, true Rooibaard genetics. Hugo also dives into how he deals with the wicked South African climate, from whippping winds to humid sea air- and he also reveals the types of pests he battles in SA, which funnily enough are the same cannabis pests we deal with worldwide!

We continue our Worldwide December quest to speak to growers from around the globe- this time we're headed back to the heart of the USA to speak with Chitown Cannachica, who has been growing in the windy city for several years now. Cannachica talks about her journey into growing medicine for a family member, and how she deals with the BS Illinois cultivation guidelines. She also discusses the huge climate swings that occur in the Midwest, from bone dry sub zero winter temperatures, to muggy and humid 90 degree summer days. This leads to a conversation about having TWO WAY climate control, and how important that is for grows in regions with four seasons. Cannachica also shares an interesting strategy of vegging plants outside in the Midwest summer, and bringing them in for the flowers stage. Cannachica also shares some strain and grow gear reviews to round out the program.
