Match Play Does Not Belong In Majors Apr 01, 2021

Show notes

Episode 40 is brought to you by Birdicorn and we recap the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament and discuss the hot take that golf should implement match play into a major championship. We weigh in on the state of pro shop vibes which are a true vibe killer in the game of golf. Tempy's Tees brings us another Chubba Watson's Ask a Scratch Golfer which is a great segment for golfers who are new to the game as we get an inside look at what it takes to get better. We quickly check in on our college basketball tournament status, Chubba is obviously beating Daniel despite Daniel claiming he's the world's best at picking college basketball games. Finally, we end with golf's favorite new segment "Is Tiger Woods Better Than...A Test of Your Knowledge of the Top 100 Players in the Game" to determine who knows most about the PGA's top 100 players in the game. In very exciting news, we announce that sign ups for the Groupchat Golf Open Tournament Series of Champions will be live on Friday, April 2nd, however, EXCLUSIVELY for our podcast listeners, we will open sign ups on Thursday April 1st (link below). Show notes

In episode 37, we recap the (mostly) boring Honda Classic which brings on the overarching discussion of whether or not the PGA Tour is boring. It needs some players who are interesting and we get into what types of people we'd like to see in golf. We see the return of Chubba Watson's Ask a Scratch Golfer in which he comes firing out of the gate with a doozy. We are right on the cusp of the start of the season up here in the northeast and we're rearing to go. Come join us Sunday nights at 7 PM EST live on Twitch to interact and catch a second bonus hour of the pod!

Putt Putt vs Mini Golf Mar 18, 2021

Show notes

In episode 37, we recap Justin Thomas coming from behind to win The Player's Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau were in contention again for a second week in a row but JT's irons remained hot and he shot up the leaderboard late Sunday. We launch our college basketball tourney bracket in collaboration with Greenside Golf. Sign up is free and the winner will receive a brand new Greenside Golf bag. A discussion over putt putt/mini golf develops and it becomes clear that mini golf is poised for a come back. Chubba launches a new segment called "Is Tiger Woods Better Than...A Test of your Knowledge of the Top 100 Players in the World" and it was FANTASTIC. Oh and Danny makes his come back. Red and Black Mar 04, 2021

Show notes

In episode 35, we discuss Collin Morikawa's big win at the WGC Mexico. What a future that kid has in the great game of golf. We saw a lot of the field on sunday wearing red and black in honor of Tiger Woods. That was interesting. Johnny Manziel is making the jump from football/partying to professional golf. Following in the footsteps of Barstool Sport's Caleb Pressely, he is giving himself 12 years to become a pro, which would make him a solid 40 years young when he debuts on the tour. We preview the Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill coming up this weekend and discuss whether Arnie is the most popular drink named after a person. The weather is starting to get a bit warmer and golf is slowly but steadily creeping back into the picture as we get excited for the 2021 season. For those keep track at home, Chubba's goal of no 3 putts is still in tact as we enter month 3 of the new year.

Genesis Open/Snacks at the Turn Feb 25, 2021

Show notes

In episode 34, we discuss the wild end to the Genesis Open in which we saw Max Homa defeat Tony Finau in a 2-hole playoff. Danny was late because he went on a hike, no surprise there. Dustin Johnson debuted the new Sim 2 hat which was...something. This spawned a quick dive in the history of golf hats and of course the vertical "NIKE" spellout lid that Brooks rocked last year. The verdict on that one varied from host to host. We were live on Twitch again, join us every Sunday night at 7PM EST to join in on the chat and get an additional bonus hour of content. We were asked about favorite snacks at the turn and the battle of snack vs meal commenced. Hot dog toppings were of course then discussed for a longer than we care to admit. Fun episode, we are getting ready to play some golf in the Northeast!

Indoor Golf Sucks Feb 18, 2021

Show notes

In episode 33, we recap the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and preview the Genesis at Riveria. We saw the leader at Pebble drop out of the win by four putting including a miss from under a foot. This breathes new life into putt-it-out campaign launched by our own Chubba Watson. If a pro can miss that putt so can you. We had an interview planned with a real life men's league indoor golf player who was going to come on to somehow defend the absimal experience that is indoor golf. Unfortunately, he backed out cause he wasn't ready to step into the thunderdome. We hope to have him on in the future if he's able to gather himself but in his stead we laid out why the current day indoor golf set up is less than ideal. Make sure to join us live Sunday nights on Twitch to follow along on the show and gain access to an additional bonus hour of the pod!

Bomar Putters Feb 04, 2021

Show notes

In episode 31, we sit down with Brittany Bomar from Bomar Putters. She gives us the back story on how they got started and why side-saddle putting is worth a try. If you think you have room in your game to pick up an extra stroke or two on the greens this episode is for you. Very informative, we've recevied a Bomar putter and had a great time slapping it around. We also touch on pace of play when it comes to slow pre-shot routines. What happens when you play a round with someone but haven't been properly introduced before tee off? Can you say anything to them after that point? Great ep, give a listen, like, share and subscribe!
