Show notes

It’s possible to dutifully drive to the gym every morning, and drive thru the donut shop on the way back home. It’s possible to set aside time every morning for devotions, but then get distracted by all the stuff on social media. Good intentions by themselves don’t take us far down the path of holiness. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see where our lives are out of adjustment, and helps us chart a course away from carnality and into spiritual growth.

Don't Let the Old Man In | Two Natures May 11, 2023

Show notes

Those who’ve had heart surgery often talk of feeling younger and more energetic after the surgery. Their blood flows better, more oxygen to their system, they feel brand new. Spiritually speaking, we get a new heart when we come to the Lord. We’re new creatures in Christ. The old man is dead. But today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says sometimes that old man tries to come back to life. Paul addressed that very issue in the book of Romans, and that’s our subject for today.

Sometimes believers give the Devil more credit than he deserves. “I couldn’t help myself; the Devil made me do it.” Not really. Sin requires our cooperation. We don’t fall into sin, we jump. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how our adversary and our sinful nature may conspire to lure us, but we can stand in the Lord’s victory over temptation. How? That’s what today’s study is about. Pastor Greg helps us chart a path toward spiritual success.

We’ll see God does His part, we cooperate with what He’s done, and there are a few things that are up to us. Let’s learn how it all works together.

Every ship captain likes smooth sailing. No squalls, no storms, no stress. And every ship captain has seen the weather change very suddenly. How many of us have started a particular day with the sun shining and birds singing, and ended the day wondering how we’d make it through until tomorrow. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how Jesus is with us in the midst of our trials, and how those trials may be hand-picked to turn us into the stalwart saints God wants us to be.

Ever bought a product that made you feel out of sorts? A shirt or blouse that was cut strangely. Maybe a pair of shoes that pinched. Or you sat in a chair that looked really comfortable but the minute you sat down, you said, “I’ll stand, thank you.” Many people live their lives all out of sorts . . . and they don’t really know what’s wrong. Don't Stop Believing | God's Plan for Your Growth May 04, 2023

Show notes

Many people remember Polaroid cameras. You’d look through the viewfinder, snap a picture, pull the film out of the back of the camera and wait for the picture to develop before your eyes. The photographer always knew what was coming because he saw what was in his viewfinder. But it was a surprise to everyone else. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie reminds us God knows what’s developing in your life. He’s already seen it. And so we need to trust that His plan is better than ours.

Don't Stop Believing | Waiting on God's Timing May 03, 2023

Show notes

It’s doubtful many of us are very good at waiting. What’s that saying, “Patience is a virtue, Possess it if you can, Seldom found in woman, Never found in man.” The stakes are even higher when there’s great danger or discomfort. But today on A NEW BEGINNING, as Pastor Greg Laurie continues our study series in the book of Romans, we’ll see God will come through for us . . . and His timing is always perfect. And the best example of His providence is in His Son’s sacrifice for our sins.
