Are You His Disciple? | Standing Up for What's Right Jul 18, 2024

Show notes

What’s right isn’t always popular, and what’s popular isn’t always right. It’s easy to go with the flow . . . laugh along with others at an inappropriate joke, remain silent when a co-worker is about to do something unethical. But those who never stand for something eventually will fall for anything. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us put our faith, our relationship with God, front and center in our daily lives. It’s part of walking the rewarding path of discipleship.

Are You His Disciple? | Charting a Course for Discipleship Jul 17, 2024

Show notes

It’s one thing to be ON the team, it’s another to be IN the action. It’s one thing to watch from the bench, it’s another to get in the game. And we hope many will be “in the game” for this weekend’s Harvest Crusade in Anaheim, California. Details at harvest.org. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us chart a course for getting in the game called discipleship. The Almost Christian | Exploring Prerequisites for Commitment Jul 16, 2024

Show notes

Prerequisites. Students certainly know what those are. Those are things that have to come before other things. Before you can take English 201, you have to take English 101. Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us explore any prerequisites in making a genuine commitment to Jesus Christ. If heaven hangs in the balance, we want to make sure our hearts and minds are sincere in fully accepting the Lord’s invitation. Today’s message serves as the finale to our studies in Acts.

The Almost Christian | Ensuring the Sincerity of Our Faith Jul 15, 2024

Show notes

Ever drive away from home and had that nagging feeling you might have left the stove on? Or you forgot to lock a door? Or you left a curling iron plugged in? If you don’t go back and check, you start thinking of how things could go horribly wrong. We want to be sure about certain things, don’t we? Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us check ourselves when it comes to the sincerity of our faith in Christ. When it comes to matters of eternity, “close enough” . . . isn’t close enough.

The Great Escape | Sunday Message Jul 14, 2024

Show notes

As we've heard Pastor Greg Laurie say, “What we believe about end times will affect the way we live in these times.” Today, Pastor Jonathan Laurie helps us get a biblical understanding of the Rapture and Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Notes:

Focus verse: Matthew 24:37

1. What Is the Rapture?
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
“The rapture of the church is that future event when Jesus Christ will descend from Heaven to resurrect the bodies of departed believers and to transform and translate the bodies of living believers immediately into His glorious presence in a moment of time, and then escort them to Heaven to live with Him forever.” —Mark Hitchcock
The Rapture vs. The Second Coming
The Rapture is when Jesus comes for His church.
The Second Coming is when Jesus comes with His church.
The Rapture happens before the tribulation.
The Second Coming happens at the end of the tribulation.
The Rapture is the removal of believers from the earth as an act of deliverance.
The Second Coming includes unbelievers as an act of judgement.
The Rapture will be secret and instant.
The Second Coming will be visible to everyone.
The Second Coming will not happen until the rapture happens.
Nothing else needs to happen prophetically for the Rapture to happen.
2. Is It Biblical? Why Should We care?
1 Corinthians 15:51–53
The Rapture Is Biblical Because:
Accounts of people raptured (Enoch and Elijah).
Civilizations spared from judgement (Sodom & Gomorrah and Nineveh).
Jesus’ own words (Luke 17:34–36).
3. How Should We Respond?
1 Thessalonians 5:6–11
“What we believe about end times will affect the way we live in these times.” —Pastor Greg Laurie

See You in the Morning | Classic Crusade Jul 13, 2024

Show notes

In this episode, we revisit a classic crusade message from Pastor Greg Laurie, titled “See You in the Morning.”

Originally preached at the Harvest Crusade on August 17, 2014 Pastor Greg points out in this message that many people get their notion of Heaven from television or the movies. He calls that “cartoon heaven.” He points out the biblical truth about our heavenly home.

Christ's Call to Courage | Pursuing Faithfulness Over Success Jul 12, 2024

Show notes

Looking for God’s will for your life? Want to know your part? Today on A NEW
BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how where to pour your
concentration.

“Here’s what your focus should be on: not on success, your focus should be on
faithfulness. Doing what God has told you to do, wherever it takes you. If it takes you
to a palace or a prison cell, all I want to know is Jesus is with me and I’m in the center of His will, and that for me is the right place to be.”

Christ's Call to Courage | Navigating Cancel Culture Jul 11, 2024

Show notes

“It takes courage, in our culture today especially, to speak up for what is true. Because culturally we’re going the wrong direction on so many fronts. And for you to stand up and say what the Bible says takes courage.”

“Cancel culture” resists the truth of God’s Word. But Pastor Greg Laurie points
out we have a message that must get delivered!

“Now, I’ve got to warn you. If you speak up for what is true, you might get cancelled, or worse. But have courage.”
