Celtics PRIDE: Trade Ideas, Honest Ime, and The Losing Silver Lining Jan 11, 2022

Show notes

The Celtics Pride guys are back together again to talk all things Celtics. They start the pod by offering a few more trade ideas before delving into the recent response to Ime Udoka's comments and philosophy of honesty. "Honest Ime," as Adam calls him, is nothing if not direct, and the guys weigh in on what they think of this approach. Unlike some media members, the Celtics Pride crew doesn't see Udoka throwing his players under the bus. Instead, they see his comments as being parallel to exactly what all the fas are watching on the court. They then promote CelticsBlog's Adam Spinella's recent article supporting Udoka as creating a player-led culture of accountability and leadership. They wrap up the episode by discussing why all the losing the Celtics are doing could actually be a good thing for the Celtics stars, and the team in the future. How could this be? Celtics PRIDE: What exactly *is* this team? Jan 04, 2022

Show notes

Adam and Mike are joined by Bobby Manning (CelticsBlog, CLNS Media, and Boston Sports Journal) to take stock of the team at the start of 2022, trying to make sense of a team whose last 4 games involved: a horrific loss to a G-League version of the Timberwolves a 4-42 showing from deep against the Clippers a wire-to-wire victory against the Suns – who just happen to be a Top 2 or 3 team in the league a by-the-skin-of-their-teeth win against a normally hapless Magic team that was also without key players. In short… what exactly *is* this Celtics team? The guys begin by exploring just how relevant it is that the Celtics have lost more games to COVID over the last 1.5 season than just about every other team and wondering whether the Jays are too ball dominant – and if the solution is simply putting more ‘connectors’ on the roster. They also examine whether or not effort or focus have been – and/or remain – primary issues facing the team this season, and how much blame Ime and Brad should shoulder for development of young players (or lack thereof). Additionally, Adam, Mike, and Bobby talk about when – if ever – the Celtics might need to explore trading Jaylen, and the circumstances that would have to come about to help the Front Office make that type of monumental decision. But don’t worry Celtics fans – nobody wants to trade Jaylen now! A disastrous shooting performance from the Celtics saw them slide to three losses on the bounce, and with the Suns up next, things aren't looking good. But would a trade fix anything? Is Ben Simmons the answer? Or can the Celtics find another way of improving their roster? Adam and Will dive into the Boston Celtics loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the larger questions that performance raises about the current roster. Celtics PRIDE: Instant Reaction to Minnesota Loss Dec 28, 2021

Show notes

Adam and Mike give their rapid reactions after watching the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Boston Celtics. This may have been the worst loss of a season with many strong candidates for that distinction. Some Celtics are back from Covid, others are now out. Jayson Tatum missed this game after entering covid protocols but Minnesota played the end of their bench and replacement players and came back to take the lead in the 4th quarter and never looked back. Adam and Mike discuss the concerning trend of 4th quarter collapses, even including Head Coach Ime Udoka’s comments on the matter. Meanwhile Jayson Tatum is leading the league in 4th quarter scoring and the Celtics are one of the worst teams in the clutch. Are those two things causal or correlational? The guys talk about Romeo Langford and Payton Pritchard’s ascension amidst the rubble of covid replacements and disjointed team construction and hate the minutes Juancho Hernangomez is getting to simply miss 3s. Finally they answer the question, would you sign Isaiah Thomas?
