Celtics PRIDE: More Durant Rumors, Bill Russell's Best Stat, Vonleh, Caboclo & Preseason Schedule Aug 09, 2022

Show notes

After an offseason hiatus the Celtics PRIDE team is back to discuss all of the offseason items that mean far less than they seem. After trying to avoid the Durant rumors as much as possible, Adam, Josh and Mike review the recent scuttlebut and give their thoughts on Durant, the risks involved in bringing him to any organization and the potential packages the Celtics could ship out. Then they switch gears from a player who puts himself first to a guy who had a “team ego.” Josh compiled some of the most impressive statistics about Bill Russell and plays a game to identify which one is most impressive. Is it his blocked shots, minutes per game, number of rings, his record in must win games or MVPs? The Podcast content turns to training camp contracts for Noah Vonleh and Bruno Caboclo and the Celtics’ attempts to find a big man who can be a legitimate backup to Al Horford and Rob Williams. Coach Josh has some inside scouting knowledge on Vonleh going back to Vonleh’s High School playing days and has more optimism on Caboclo than any reasonable human should at this point. The PRIDE guys then look at the Celtics’ preseason schedule in October. Before ending, Mike and Josh tease a long rumored segment from Josh… a ranking on the NBA coaches most likely to win in a fight. That and more on this week’s episode of Celtics PRIDE. Celtics PRIDE: The Dog Days Of Summer Jul 19, 2022

Show notes

Celtics PRIDE: The Dog Days of Summer The “dog days” of summer are here, and when there isn’t huge news in CelticsLand, the Celtics Pride Team likes to get in touch with their creative side and bring topics of their own. First up on this episode of the Celtics Pride Podcast, Josh and Adam reveal Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens’ Red Sox Player Comparison. If you thought NBA player comparisons of draft prospects was difficult, try crossing over sports to find who the Celtics’ GMs would play like. Adam continues the analogy by comparing Danny Ainge to someone who flips houses, after looking at the Rudy Gobert trade in Ainge’s new position with the Utah Jazz - and the Kevin Garnett trade before it that brought Boston Banner 17. Adam then continues with speculation about which team Ainge is likely to trade Donovan Mitchell to, and how Ainge’s relationship with Miami Heat executive Pat Riley impacts the Heat’s chances of landing Donovan. Coach Josh then makes the case that Malcolm Brogdon is the Celtics clear third best player. The list for this honor obviously includes Marcus Smart, Al Horford, and the Timelord, Rob Williams. Josh goes as far as saying Brogdon could be the best point guard on the Celtics team, even after Marcus Smart led the squad to the finals in his first year as starting point guard. Adam responds by questioning if we should be afraid of Smart playing the 2, with his history of questionable shot selection. The pride guys then give final notes on the Celtics’ summer league team signees by sharing a 1-10 rating of how excited they are about JD Davison, Sam Houser, and Mfiondu Kabengele. They give a couple notes on Matt Ryan, Luke Kornet, Trevion Williams, Broderick Thomas, and regrettably leave Juhann Begarin absent from the conversation.
