Star Trethics (Discovery S4E5) Dec 21, 2021

Show notes

When Captain Burnham leads a rescue mission to a prison, her character is given more sentences than the prisoners. But when modern-day Stamets must work alongside Vintage Stamets in an experiment on the DMA, Saru will have to be the adult in the room. Can Saru “Hudson” the brooch? Is this beam, or is this holo? What kind of container does Risian liquor come in? It’s the episode that’ll really flood your garage!

No One Needs to Make a Dead Person Proud (Discovery S4E4) Dec 14, 2021

Show notes

When Tilly substitute teaches at Starfleet Academy, the cadets are in danger of failing their group project. But when a banger strands them on the wrong moon, they’ll need all the extra credit they can get. Does parasitic ice come cubed, crushed, or pebbled? Is Gray going to have a raging hangover tomorrow? Will Saru fall for T’Rina’s thirst trap? It’s the episode that buys you a drink and tips its hat from across the bar.

Nerd Top Gun (Discovery S4E3) Dec 07, 2021

Show notes

When Starfleet’s dilithium milk runs become the target of Qowat Milat outlaws, Michael Burnham is saddled with her mom (and Tilly) to track them down. But when the reason for the stealin’ makes it clear that it’s nun of their business, the justice they deliver will be swift but lenient. Why construct a gollum starting with the feet? Is Tilly capable of killing…a plate of macaroni and cheese? Did the show install gas lines everywhere? It’s the episode that does a shot of Goldschläger!

Trauma Currency Exchange (Discovery S4E2) Nov 30, 2021

Show notes

When Discovery jumps to the anomaly, it’s hard to get a sense of its square footage. But when Book declares himself the only one pre-qualified for a tour, Captain Burnham must talk him out of an impulsive decision. What’s the coolest Starfleet extra-curricular activity? Is doing wire work without Michelle Yeoh even legal? Can't we just stick to the protocol? It’s the episode that wears a fancy brooch!

You’d Die to Get Killed Off of a Show Like This (Discovery S4E1 & Prodigy S1E5) Nov 23, 2021

Show notes

When dilithium milk runs get a bit repetitive for the Disco crew, they envy the Starbases getting knocked for a loop. But when the same force spinning the stations hits Book way too close to home, the crew gears up for what looks like another season-level emergency. Do tentacles have a smell? Will the crew all evolve into salamanders when they’re different species to begin with? Is this cap about Disco or Prodigy? It’s the episode that’s like the last chopper out of Saigon, and also the first chopper into Saigon.

Infinite Helmet Diversity in Infinite Combinations of Spacesuit (STP S1E3) Nov 16, 2021

Show notes

When the Protostar skids to a stop on a class M planet, it seems like the perfect place for the crew to have their first away mission. But when the planet’s inhabitants start to give the crew the creepy-crawlies, their leadership vacuum will have to be filled in the next episode. How many Prodigy toys will the kids want for the holidays? Je suis, Murph? We’re really keeping that mouth, aren’t we? It’s the episode that doesn’t do two shows at the same time.

Dal Am Become Kirk (Prodigy S1E2) Nov 09, 2021

Show notes

When the Protostar crew become protégés of hologram Janeway, they get a crash course in what the Federation is. But when Dal makes his first command decision, they might also get a crash course in black holes. If Dal has no past, why does he seem so much like a failson? How does NutriGoop™ look coming out? Is there any law to fit Gwyn’s crime? It’s the episode where we’re picking up after Murph with our bare hands.
