Vending Vendome Dome Outside the Kingdome (Lower Decks S3E2) Sep 06, 2022

Show notes

When a role reversal means Mariner is left to fix an orbital lift for the Delanians, the engineering team visits the planet's surface to learn just how accommodating their hosts can be. But when Mariner discovers that Rutherford and Billups committed the ultimate faux pas by not cropping their tops, she prematurely jumps into action. Will Boimler boldly go where no Boimler has gone before? Is guacamole a condiment? Was Ortegas part Delanian? It's the episode that tells you, “there's no use in crying over spilled milk”.

The Lowest Deck (Lower Decks S3E1) Aug 30, 2022

Show notes

When Mariner goes rogue instead of trusting the Starfleet system, her mission hits the wall like so many of the Freeman’s houseplants. But when things look truly hopeless, reaching into the shockingly lifelike orifices of the verugament is the only way for the ensigns to save face. Will there be any tech bros left in San Francisco by the 2380s? Does anyone actually win in an offensiveness-measuring contest? Where are the lawyers at with the Ooby Dooby? It’s the episode that really takes it to the extreme!

It’s Alchemy, It’s Not a Science (Lower Decks S2 Recap) Aug 23, 2022

Show notes

When it’s time for a Season 2 rewatch, Ben and Adam come away with some very important questions for Mike McMahan. But revisiting the Lower Decks universe makes the potential for the show’s future even more intoxicating. Was Odo’s bucket a Finnish sauna? Is there a correct dosage of Easter eggs? What’s the best way to do a season rewatch? It’s the episode that’s pretty heavily gummed!

Erect Arm Status (TOS S2E4) Aug 09, 2022

Show notes

When Ben and Adam forget the homework they’ve already completed, they’ll have to review the assignment to pay proper tribute to Nichelle Nichols. But a time warp back to their first ever TOS review reveals how far they’ve come in appreciating the ‘60s aesthetic. What do you use when you want a little agony on the go? Why was the fight scene filmed from a blimp? When is swimsuit season in the Mirror Universe? It’s the episode that was buried under four years of MaxFun bonus content, now remastered with HD eyeshadow!

A Script is a Blueprint (An interview with Anson Mount) Aug 02, 2022

Show notes

When Adam and Ben are forced to cancel their trip to San Diego Comic Con, their distress call is answered by one of Starfleet’s great captains. But when their conversation goes outside-in, their greatest discovery will be the flexibility of their own production. What can we learn about the value of self-judgement? How many ways are there to peel an onion? Can true happiness be found in the boring? It’s the episode that should be dead or in jail!

Strange New Larkin Awards (SNW Season 1) Jul 26, 2022

Show notes

When everyone’s favorite awards show returns to the Kodak theatre, the A-list presenters gather to celebrate the inaugural season of Strange New Worlds. But things get confusing when an out of place prop threatens to tarnish the ceremony’s reputation with the insinuation of inside dealing. How much controversy can an aging telecast withstand? What kind of accent does Pirate Spaghetti have? Why couldn’t Ensign Lance gain entrance to the event? It’s the episode with a surprising number of posthumous award winners!

Smells Like the 80s (Q&A with Ben and Adam) Jul 19, 2022

Show notes

When a 29-week marathon of NuTrek runs out, Ben & Adam get together to answer a few questions from the Friends of DeSoto. But an unexpected request forces a difficult decision about whether to disclose top-secret drop details or dodge the hoerl question. What’s the most likely place to find today’s pair of shorts? Are blueberries bad for you? Who wants goosebumps all over their birdie? It’s the episode where Ben & Adam discover something they never knew they had in common!

Osso Buco, Et Cetera (SNW S1E10) Jul 12, 2022

Show notes

When Pike takes a turn as Captain in Balance of Terror, the alternate ending reveals the inevitability of his fate. But as James T. Kirk arrives early for season 2, more crew shakeups push a remake closer to finale level stakes. Why doesn’t Pike know the boilerplate Starfleet Captain wedding speech? What does the workout shirt for the USS Farragut say? Is James Frain picking up the phone these days? It’s the episode that’s actually two episodes!

Top Gorns (SNW S1E9) Jul 05, 2022

Show notes

When the crew splits up for two Priority one missions, Pike leads team leather down to LV-426. But as they start to repair the USS Peregrine, what they discover are the gruesome remains of a last stand against the Gorn. Who won the waffle wars? What’s the most common type of planet for an away mission? Does anyone want to share the spotlight at their funeral? It’s the episode that ruined figs!
