Gospel for the Culture with D. Danyelle Thomas

Gospel for the Culture is a public-intellectual library in audio form.

Hosted by writer and public theologian D. Danyelle Thomas, each episode is a literary essay spoken aloud—an invitation to think through race, faith, history, culture, memory, power, desire, and the stories that shape public life.

Organized into collections like American Mythology, Empire State of Mind, American Memory, Algorithmic Economies, Songversations, and Office Hours with the Dean, the show moves between cultural criticism, theology, political history, personal reflection, and Black intellectual tradition without chasing the news cycle or forcing every thought into a hot take.

This is not a podcast designed to tell you what to think.

It is a place to reconsider what we’ve inherited, ask the questions we were taught not to ask, and sit in good company while we think them through.

Come be in good company while you reconsider.

In the first episode of Gospel #ForTheCulture, D. Danyelle Thomas of Unfit Christian uses the hilarious viral sensation of Naszir Ferrell, the 6 year old voice of an generation of folks sick of church as usual. She discusses her journey through deconstructing her own faith and beliefs and why she just had to create space for the people she knew were undoubtedly just like her: needing a community of like minded believers.
