    Good Talk

Pete Wilson is the former pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in the country, but life took a drastic turn when he went through personal burnout and a divorce. Armed with a new awareness that failure is not final and that unconditional love can melt away destructive shame, he’s discovering the beauty and purpose of life again. He has remarried and is now partnering with his wife, Jordyn, for this new podcast. Good Talk exists to help people take their mind off the temporary and heavy, and remind them of the joy of life, the love of God, and the possibilities that lie ahead. If you’re interested in living a more meaningful life but you don’t really know where to start or maybe you’re interested in spirituality but you’ve been burned or feel intimated by traditional religion, then this podcast is for you. Each week Pete and Jordyn will share some amazing stories and introduce you to some inspiring people. They’ll share what they’re struggling with (even when it’s not pretty), challenge us to rethink some religious misconceptions we’ve held onto, and give us some practical strategies to live the life we’ve been created to live.

An Inspiring Lesson I Learned From My Teenage Son Dec 15, 2020
    Show notes

Isn't it interesting how we embody the truth of some of life's biggest lessons in our childhood? As we grow into adults with a less "pure" viewpoint, accompanied by baggage and hurt, it often causes us to act in a way that isn't healthy for us or those around us. In this episode, Pete is talking to his middle son, Gage, and three of his friends as he teaches them about the 3 stages of growth, acceptance, celebrating other people's success, and how the path toward substantial change almost always includes expanding your love for other people. But Gage and his buddies end up teaching Pete a lesson too.

The Thrill of Hope Dec 08, 2020
    Show notes

This famous line, "the thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices," may feel more relevant than ever this Christmas season. Everyone is yearning for a small sign of hope. And while everyone's hopes and desires for more may be different, we all know the feeling of waiting when it seems like something you're longing for is out of reach. However, the mere concept of "hope" implies a season of waiting, and when it feels like maybe God is doing something "to" you, in this episode, we talk about how God just may be doing something "for" you.

She thinks she’s actually here to chat about some of the cool things she’s up to (since she lives a pretty fun life), but Pete is going to surprise her and take this interview in a whole different direction. Embedded in this surprise is an important lesson for all of us on how doing this “one thing” for the people around us can literally change the course of their life. Pete is also going to let everyone in on a super fun project he’s been working on and you’re all invited to be a part of it in 2021.

Remember Their Humanity Nov 06, 2020

It's easy in this day and age to quickly cast blame or hatred on people who we don't agree with or on those who have hurt us. Our world can feel very polarized and divisive at times. And while there is a time and place for feeling pain caused by others in order to heal from it, the freedom and peace within ourselves comes with the acknowledgement that they are human. And often, these people are unaware of how their own hurt and past may be impacting how they're treating us and others. Together, let's explore how that level of understanding can ignite a new level of empathy and understanding in all of us.
