Daniel Tashian is a GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Award-winning musician renowned for his work on Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Golden Hour,’ wrote and recorded 8 original songs with his daughters Tigerlily, Tinkerbell and Matilda. Drawing inspiration from his own childhood with Sesame Street and Pink Panther, Tashian created the Mr. Moonlight character to help with his daughters’ bedtime anxiety. Mr. Moonlight “watches over” them as they fall asleep.

Before the Stay-At-Home order, Tashian was spending a lot of time away from home. Quarantine gave the Tashian's family a chance to bond, so instead of diving into a new musical project of his own, he wanted to give the kids a chance to share their imagination. She's mom to a spunky young daughter, a seasoned performer, an experienced music educator, and a board certified music therapist. Stephanie is a Berklee College of Music graduate and is passionate about using music to help kids succeed. She has started multiple thriving music therapy programs and specializes in working with babies and kids through age 6.

Stephanie jokes that she has a low tolerance for cheesy music. She carefully selects (or writes) music for her own daughter to improve their nightly routine, ease transitions, help her get her energy out and to encourage her to share her feelings. Music cannot be "prescribed", because the effectiveness of music is largely due to a child's preference. But this is a starting point... some tried and true music that you might find helpful, too. It is a beautiful and carefully crafted album inspired by James' own experiences as a new mother and with battling postpartum depression.'

“These songs come from a place of exhaustion, bewilderment and pure love,” says Nashville-based singer/songwriter Dawn Landes of My Tiny Twilight, a six-song collection out May 10 on Yep Roc Records.

“I found myself singing to my daughter constantly to soothe her, entertain her, and pass the time, says Landes. “The first song I wrote was “Hushabye.” I couldn’t get her to stop crying so I sat at the piano and played until she quieted down. She responded to the melody and it became pretty useful in those first months.”

"Andy Gutman is a songwriter, children's book author and businessman in the metro-Detroit area. His love of books, reading and writing began early on. He'll tell you he's not a musician, but he has a passion for songwriting. When he was young he would jot down lyrics in journals and then set the journal aside, not certain what, if anything, he would do with them. As they sat collecting dust, he pursued a career in finance and commercial real estate. Although he puts in long hours on the job, he's never lost sight of his creative dreams. Since that time, Gutman worked with various artists who sang and produced the more than 300 songs he's penned, because "nobody wants to hear [him] sing."

Recently he turned his creative visions into four children's books, which all began as songs. His books are written in a lyrical style amidst vibrant illustrations.

His most recent book, Charlie the Caterpillar: What Can I Be Today?, is a 38-page story, conceived by Gutman and his daughter Riley, that focuses on the dreams that all kids have about what they can be when they grow up."

The multi-talented Craig Pomranz joins me to talk about his book, Made By Raffi, and so much more!

Craig wrote the book to support young boys and girls who are perceived as "different" because of their appearance or hobbies. Lee Overtree and the Story Pirates Podcast were critical to the creation of the Good Stuff Kids Podcast. I vividly remember my son and I listening to the Story Pirate's podcast as we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco to Marin. We loved it from first listen. I was so happy to have a chance to talk to Lee about all aspects of the Story Pirates. It's more than a podcast, it's a program that goes into schools and teaches writing and creative fun. You will not believe how many Story Pirates there are working around the country! Lee finds the meaning behind the stories and honors the kid authors throughout this conversation.

There are two Story Pirates books as well as a brand new record called 'Nothing Is Impossible'. What I loved the most about this conversation with Lee is how much he loves the stories that kids write and he values and honors the writers with such authenticity.

I got to meet up with Melita and Isaac at Isaac's house in Oakland not too long ago. I had such a nice time talking with them about their partnership, and kinda putting them on the spot to say nice things about each other. Which they did! Melita and Isaac work really well together and it was so fun to see them interact and talk about the music that they make. They're intentional in the music they make and are two of the kindest people I've ever been around!

Do you know anything about bitcoin? I know nothing. I had another talk with Joel Salvino from Good Stuff Sports #14 because in addition to being an expert hiker/backpacker, he also knows about bitcoin. Joel did the best that he could to teach me, but I'm pretty sure I just don't get block chains and mining for bitcoin. Anyhow, it was really fun, and you'll probably get it quicker than I ever will.

I also talked to Nik Lettuce, whose brand new podcast for kids and families 'Nik Lettuce Clubhouse' is premiering in April 19th. It was great to talk to Nik, and he made some Wrestlemania predictions.

Obviously, good stuff for kids and families is not limited in scope! Wrestling, bitcoin, and crows. All in one episode. Enjoy!

I got a chance to not only talk to Tommy and Kaitlyn about their awesome new album 'Rise, Shine, #Woke', but I got to see them perform live at an Elementary School in South San Francisco. I got to see, firsthand, the impact that they have on students with their message of change. It was an incredibly moving experience. My time with the Alphabet Rockers coincided with the news about the current administration working to end DACA. It was clear that so many of the students that were at the Alphabet Rockers program were fearful about what they were hearing from the government. I got to speak to a few students and a teacher about the mood in the classrooms, and I was relieved to hear that there was a general attitude of positivity. The teachers at the school were so dedicated and engaged, and it was noted by Kaitlyn, Tommy, and me. Thanks to the educators in lower income areas who are making their students education positive and joyful during what is a difficult time.

I remember watching Tim Janus in the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating competition on July 4th a few years ago. I thought his Ultimate Warrior facepaint was awesome. I think saw him on an MTV reality special which showcased how he goes about training and what his professional eating competitions are like. Tim graciously responded to a twitter message about coming on the show and talking about how he came to be a professional eater. It's important to know that there is training that goes in to being on the professional eating circuit. What food does Tim recommend that aspiring pro eaters begin with? Episode #50! Can you believe it? Neither can I. It was a total thrill to talk to Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. They are a songwriting pair who have written some incredible music together that has been enjoyed by theater-goers around the world! They just released the brand new album/soundtrack for 'Junie B. Jones The Musical'. Everyone knows Junie B.! We talked songwriting and classic musicals. So unbelievably fun.

I also caught Josh the Lawyer just as he and his family were about to leave for a trip to the UK. Josh the Lawyer was going to help me do something different with the 50th episode, but we didn't quite get to it. Don't worry, it will happen eventually and this short conversation more than makes up for it.
