Along with his co-host, Dave Schilling, and producer, Jessamine Molli, each episode they watch a noteworthy stand-up special from the history of comedy and have as much fun as possible analyzing it as deeply as they can.


    The first episode, which we are sharing here, is a breakdown of Dave Chappelle's 2000 HBO special, Killin' Them Softly. In between discussions of some of the best jokes of the 21st century, Fox, Schilling, and Molli reckon with the mythology that has been created around Chappelle over the last decade.

    Colin Quinn's Coronavirus Drive-In Special Nov 17, 2020

    Bert Kreischer's The Machine Nov 10, 2020

    Bert Kreischer is a legendary human: he got his start when he was profiled by Rolling Stone Magazine as the Top Partyer at the Top Party School in the nation, FSU. Soon after he moved to NYC, where six months in he was discovered by Will Smith, and started developing shows with him. For the next decade, he was a road comedian and a Travel Channel host. And then, his story The Machine went viral, and his life and career changed forever.

    Gary Gulman's Trader Joe's Oct 27, 2020

    In this rerun, host Jesse David Fox sits down with Gary Gulman to talk about a joke from his 2016 special It’s About Time.

    The joke is about an experience Gary had at Trader Joe’s, but it’s way, waaaaaaaay bigger than that. Gary takes his audience through TJ’s snack selection and into Narnia, making companions of old women on the Upper West Side, finally culminating in a rumination on the nature of New Yorkers and taking a stand when injustice rears its ugly head.

    Jesse and Gary dissect this joke from start to finish, picking apart word choice down to the syllable. Gary reflects on the inciting incident, as well as how his mental illness plays a part in the whole thing.
