    Good As New

Life is messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, happy, and everything in between. It’s those moments that help shape us, give us insight into who we are at our core, and hopefully help craft relationships that will last a lifetime. Events like loss, birth, marriage, graduation and so many more are like road markers along our personal paths, and things don’t always (for better or worse) go as planned. But it’s the story and the results that define who we are – and it’s those life-changing stories that will be coming to you this January with Jaj, who recently found herself a widow with 2 young kids, and Rylee, a budding entrepreneur whose big dreams and even bigger drive are being juggled with the adventure of being a newlywed. Their stories aren’t perfect, but that’s not what we’re here for. We’re learning as we go and hopefully, coming out better than we began. Listen to “Good As New” an imperfectly perfect podcast sharing the moments that break us and build us stronger.

Merch SOLD OUT and we’re doing our best to get preorders in so you can all be rocking this latest drop. We also discuss petitioning Costco, our style icons, and just being more intentional about being kind in our everyday interactions. We love you guys!

    Everyday Etiquette Jan 23, 2024

There's nothing worse than a person who isn't socially aware. You know the type: they use the treadmill next to you even when others are free, at the airport, they stand way too close to the baggage carousel, and they don't use their blinker when driving.

While we might be part of the problem (guilty of the very social faux pas we discuss in today's episode) we haven't got time for self-reflection – there's an event to plan and merch that might not be enough for everyone.

Today's episode is a whirlwind tour of everyday absurdities and a reminder that life is weird, people are weirder, and sometimes, you just have to laugh about it.

    What’s New With You Jan 16, 2024

Each week, we ask each other “what’s new with you?” We do this because it’s important to check in with your friends. Not only does it give your loved ones a chance to share what’s going on in their life, it tells the other person that you love them enough to ask about what they’re going through. So this week, it’s your turn. We asked you what’s new with you and you guys shared the good and the bad. The Good As New Community is a special one and we want you to know that we love you and we want to share in your highs and your lows. Even if you didn’t share, we invite you to listen in and to hug your people, and then hug them again - because you just never know what someone is going through.

In the final days of 2023, social media was overrun with predictions for the year ahead that ranged from hemlines to dating red flags. These personal manifestos were shared as if we’re all paid for our opinions and trend-setting views but in truth, our ins and outs are simply a public declaration of what we’re no longer putting up with, how we’re promising to treat ourselves and others better, and our personal aspirations. And as always, at the top of our list is to hug your people…and then hug them again.

One year ago tomorrow we started this podcast. Rylee was a super fresh newlywed and Jaj was deep in the trenches of loss after becoming newly widowed. We look back over the highs and the lows, our favorite episodes, and talk about how starting this podcast has been therapeutic and cathartic. We're healing, we're happy, and if this year has taught us anything it is to hug your people, and then hug them again. We love you.

When Alin Shoenrock drove by the police cars and emergency vehicles in her neighborhood, it would be a few hours before she would learn that her daughter, Sienna, was the victim of that terrible scene. "She didn't make it," quickly became the words that Alin would unbelievingly tell other loved ones as her own grief overwhelmed her. It's been 6 weeks and Alin sat down with Rylee and Jaj to talk about her journey through grief, how it's affected their family, the community that rallied, and the outpouring of love that has her feeling Good As New.

We think Kenzey's sister Syd sums this episode up well: God is good, people are kind, and miracles happen. 14 weeks ago Kenzey was on the girl's trip of the summer in South Carolina when a normal day of boating and tubing turned into the trip that would forever change her life. Her parents were across the country when they received the news that Kenzey had been hit by a boat and was fighting for her life. But with the help of fast-acting people, angels, advice from Grandpa, incredible doctors, and a whole lot of prayers, Kenzey is here today - and all in one piece. Her road to recovery is just beginning but we were blown away by just how far she's come. She's strong and tenacious with a zest for life. Listen in as Kenzey recounts her harrowing brush with death and how she's come out the other side Good as New.
