During Mike's Course Mike & Billy discuss the upcoming Breakfast with the Pros @ Blacklake Golf Resort on Saturday, March 26th.Journalist and New York Times bestselling author Daniel Coyle visited nine of the world’s greatest talent hotbeds — tiny places that produce huge amounts of talent, from a small music camp in upstate New York to an elementary school in California to the baseball fields of the Caribbean. He found that there’s a pattern common to all of them — certain methods of training, motivation, and coaching. This pattern, which has to do with the fundamental mechanisms through which the brain acquires skill, gives us a new way to think about talent — as well as new tools with which we can unlock our own talents and those of our kids.

My name is Sofie Andersson and I am a professional golfer from Sweden who currently resides in California. Playing primarily on the Duramed Futures Tour, I am in my third year as a professional golfer. I gained a lot of experience both on and off of the course during my first two seasons and am now looking forward to benefiting and taking advantage of that knowledge. “...playing on the Duramed Futures Tour...”

Since I began playing golf at the age of 10, growing up in Sweden, the game has become a part of my everyday life. I have learned so much from the game of golf and it has dictated many paths I have taken.

At 16, I began attending a high school run by the Swedish Golf Federation. After three years of study and competition, I made my way across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States to study and play collegiate golf. “...bachelor’s degree in International Political Economy...” In December 2006, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies at the University of California. As a student-athlete at California, I was honored All-America selection three times (2004-06). Additionally, I established a new program scoring average of 74.2 and posted a tournament victory at the 2005 Spartan Invitational. “...World Amateur Team Championships gold medal...” As an amateur, I also played with the Swedish National Team from 1999-06. In 2004, I was part of the three-player team that captured Sweden’s first World Amateur Team Championships gold medal at the competition in Puerto Rico. Two years later at the event in South Africa, we earned the silver medal. I enjoy the game of golf for the constant challenges it provides me. I love having the chance to always be able to get better, and the competition it gives me. I appreciate the many opportunities I have been given, the many people I have met, and places I have visited. During Mike's Course - Mike & Billy pay tribute to their friend Mike Fraiser. Since July of 2008, the Little Linksters Golf program has brought the game of golf to a typically non-tradional sect of the golfing population; the "Pee-Wee" Golfer (Ages 3-8). The Little Linksters Golf Program is a great introduction to the game of golf for for all children in this age group. The program is taught in a fun and interactive way using a combination of both traditional golf instruction methods and very non-traditional ways. The bottom line with the Little Linksters program is FUN!...

The goal of Little Linksters, LLC, and ultimately Brendon Elliott Golf, LLC, is to provide children from ages three years to eight years of age with quality introductory golf instruction and to expose them to all of the wonderful life lessons that the wonderful game of golf teaches us all. Although our target group is children ages three through eight, we will not limit ourselves solely to those age groups. Additionally, Little Linksters, LLC will strive to be a leader in the “Pee-Wee” golf arena and provide tools and information to all PGA Professionals, educators and parents that share in our vision. To accomplish our goal, we will provide services and products at reasonable rates, be responsive to the needs of our customers, and make ourselves available as much as possible to our patrons.

The mission statement of the Little Linksters program:

“Through a fun and friendly learning environment, students will accomplish three major goals; which in turn will produce a passion and respect for the game of golf. Through vigorous efforts each player will learn; how the game teaches real life lessons (patience, integrity, respect, honesty and friendship), how to master the basic fundamentals of the golf, and finally how to enjoy the experience that the game of golf offers”

During Mike's Course - Mike & Billy share a great email from one of their GTR listeners written about golf and life.Mike & Billy also interview Steven T. Ross about the Clearview Putter -No matter how well you read a putt, if you don't start the ball on the correct line, you won't make the putt. Like all golf strokes, if the golfer does not have the technique to line the shot up properly, it is difficult to make a good stroke and achieve your goal. The Clearview Putter allows you to concentrate on reading the green, and distance to stroke the ball based on the read. Master the Most-Used Club in the Bag If you were among the top 10 putters on the PGA Tour this year you’d be using your putter for between 40 and 45% of your strokes per round. Now, apply that percentage to your average score and it’s easy to see how mastering the putting stroke could make a huge difference in lowering your score. 90% of golfers are not properly lined up to the hole or set up to the ball before they stroke a putt. Said another way, 90% of putts have virtually no chance of going in regardless of speed. It’s pretty hard to lower your score with the odds that stacked against you.
