Surviving Sex Trafficking with L. Rodgers Nov 07, 2019

Sex Trafficking. Did Some vision of Liam Nissan's Taken, or images of children in third world countries being sold come to mind when you read the words "sex trafficking"? If so, you're not wrong; however, in reality, many cases of sex trafficking don't occur as those depicted in the movies. A large number of cases occur right here in the U.S. and many aren't as dramatic.

In this episode of Going Through It, sex trafficking survivor, L. Rodgers, recounts her story of being trafficked in one of America's most famous cities, New York City. L is an Americana/Soul Singer, songwriter, former American Idol contestant, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. When she left Baltimore at 21 to make her broadway dreams a reality in the Big Apple, she had no idea her dreams would be stolen from her and her main focus would become survival.

L's story is one of endurance, bravery, and resilience. She shares her experiences through her music and appearances, in hopes of helping other survivors cope or preventing women from becoming sex trafficking victims.

In this episode of Going Through it, Kenechi and guest host, Gilbert, interview porn star Hazelnut xxx.

Hazelnut is an adult entertainer and entrepreneur. She was born to immigrant parents, who left her in America as a baby to be raised by her maternal aunt after her mother was deported to Yemen. When her aunt died at the age of 12, she was thrust into the foster care system. Although she lived in the mean streets of an NYC hood, Hazel didn't let that hold her down. She took her destiny into her own hands and used her knowledge of the streets to get ahead.

Hazel talks about how she chose porn over stripping, the importance of being knowledgeable about her contracts and not talking s**t from anyone. She happily shares some fun stories of porn experiences she's had over the years. She's fun, energetic and unapologetic about her decision.
