This episode looks at Titus 3:4-8. Are we saved by works? Although no Bible-believing Apostolic Christian would ever suggest such a thing, there are those who would suggest that those who believe one must be born again, actually believe their works are earning them salvation. However, that simply is not true. We discuss this and more in this episode. We learn from this lesson that we are saved by God's Spirit and God's grace.

Not only does everyone have an opportunity to know Jesus, but salvation was also bought so that all could experience God's grace and mercy in their lives. This episode looks at 2 Timothy 2:14-19. Here Paul exhorts Timothy to value truth and study God's Word in order to be able to not only understand what is truth but to be able to skillfully and clearly communicate truth to others. God's Word is truth and is the foundation upon which believers must stand. If we err from the truth, not only will we fall away, but our erroneous teachings will cause others to fall away also. We learn from this lesson that to know Jesus in His fulness, we should be diligent in studying God's Word.

This episode looks at passages from Isaiah and 1 Timothy; passages that highlight the identity of Jesus Christ. Isaiah declares His name to be called Immanuel, Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). In 1 Timothy, Paul tells Timothy about the mystery of godliness. But what is this mystery? It may not be what you think. We learn from this lesson that Jesus' identity is without controversy in the Apostolic church.

Episode 58 - We Need the Lord May 31, 2021

This episode looks at Obadiah 1:1-4, 17-21. Here we find the prophet Obadiah pronouncing judgment on Edom, the descendants of Esau. The story of Esau is one of a man who never valued the things of God. He sold his birthright for a bowl of soup; a birthright that included spiritual promises that had been made to his grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac. Pride was the hallmark of Esau and his descendants. Pride pushes God out of our lives, while humility invites God in. We learn from this lesson that God will bless those who recognize their need of Him and pursue Him.
For those who use Word Aflame Curriculum, the Bible passage focused on in this episode comes from Lesson 13 of The Living Word, Spring 2021, entitled, "We Need the Lord" (May 30, 2021).
