Kayali's Mona Kattan on Gourmand Fragrances, Middle Eastern Beauty Traditions and the State of Social Media Apr 14, 2023

Mona Kattan has been in the beauty community before some influencers in the community could even apply makeup on their own. Kattan is the President and Co-Founder of Huda Beauty along with her sister, Huda Kattan and Alya Kattan. In addition to a vast cosmetics offering, Huda Beauty launched Kayali Fragrances in 2018, which Mona oversees the strategy for and serves as the face of. She's on the show to share her best hair advice, how Middle Eastern beauty standards differ from Western beauty ideals, the three notes in all Kayali fragrances, her mixed feelings on social media and how it can affect brands, and she shares a great piece of business advice anyone can benefit from. Our resident mother, Sara, is back! She'll be joining the pod for Tuesday episodes and will soon be back full-time. Upon her return, she shares what she's been up to, has a little cry, and then shares her take on the Barbie, er, Ken discourse. How the Pandemic Influenced the Skincare Industry Apr 07, 2023

It may seem like common sense, but the pandemic had a massive impact on our skin. We dealt with mascne to hair loss (your scalp *is* skin!); makeup took a backseat, and with so much time on our hands, we were able to think more about the efficacy of our own regimens and how impactful the ingredients we used were — for better our worse. We spent time wanting to restore our skin barrier and see resilience with our skin. Our haircare regimens became just as involved as our facial routine. And by watching ourselves day in and out on Zoom, we started taking note of all the treatments and surgeries being reviewed on TikTok. Plus, after years of doom and gloom, we wanted to feel more positive and happy versus bland and militant when it came to our skincare routine. Today, Kirbie is covering this topic based on the feature she wrote for Cosmo: "How the Pandemic Came For Your Skin." Spate co-founder Yarden Horwitz and Sula Labs founder AJ Addae were featured sources in the story and join her to discuss just how radically our routines were changed by the pandemic as well as how brands are adapting to these new trends.
