EP #75 | Our Best Country Music Interviews of 2025 Dec 31, 2025
    Show notes

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re looking back on some of our favourite country music moments from the past year — the interviews that made us laugh, the stories that surprised us, and the moments that reminded us why we love this genre and community so much.

From unforgettable guests and behind-the-scenes chaos to big cultural moments and personal highlights, this episode is a round-up of the year that was, told the only way we know how — honestly, enthusiastically, and with a very British take.

Whether you’ve been with us all year or you’re just joining the party, this one’s a celebration of the music, the memories, and everything that made Girls In Low Places. Come be a girl in a low place with us for the final episode of 2025.

EP #74 | I've Got My Mum In Low Places Dec 25, 2025
    Show notes

For this special Christmas Day episode, Katie heads back to her roots — the green hills of Surrey — for a festive, unfiltered year-in-review over Dolly Wines with a very special guest: her mum, Carole Atkin.

With a glass in hand, Katie and Carole dive headfirst into this week’s biggest country music talking points — from the ever-expanding relationship web of Riley Green, Ella Langley, Megan Moroney and Tucker Wetmore, to Jelly Roll’s official pardon and powerful redemption arc, the Taylor Swift documentary, and why British humour desperately needs more space in country music media.

Carole offers her bird’s-eye view on how Girls In Low Places has evolved from a sofa-based passion project into a guest-driven podcast with red carpet access, before sharing candid (and occasionally brutal) thoughts on dating, age gaps, fame, and why meeting someone “in real life” might still be the move.

Festive, funny, reflective and unfiltered — a proper Christmas Day yap with country music at the centre. A Christmas "Carole" some would say.

🎧 Pour a drink, press play, and Merry Christmas from Girls In Low Places.

    EP #73 | Drew Baldridge’s Underdog Story Is Almost Like a Hallmark Movie… Dec 18, 2025
    Show notes

This week on Girls In Low Places, we attempt to make a Hallmark movie — taking it from Nashville to a London Christmas market.

Is it low budget? Yes. Is it chaotic? Absolutely. Is it festive? Somehow… also yes.

We’re joined by Drew Baldridge, who opens up about:

    • Going from being dropped by Nashville to making history as the first fully self-funded, independent #1 in country music

    • The real story behind She’s Somebody’s Daughter — and why it became an anthem for women knowing their worth

    • Shooting a Hallmark movie at the Grand Ole Opry

    • Touring the world with Jelly Roll (and yes… we do talk about Bunny)

    • Why breaking through later in life might actually be the secret weapon

    • Making music that makes people feel something, not just hear it

Subscribe, like & comment. Tell us: Do you believe people from the same school year have a spiritual connection?

Ep #72 | Max McNown doesn't get asked the “Same Questions" in THIS interview... Dec 11, 2025
    Show notes

Welcome back to Girls In Low Places, the only country music podcast where British girls ask the questions nobody else dares...

This week, Max McNown joins Katie for a Christmas special that includes:

🎄 Max realising he doesn’t know what a noun is

🎄 A deep dive into why men think they can befriend animals in the Amazon rainforest

🎄 His unexpected audition to be a hobbit

🎄 The unspoken war between women wanting dinner plans vs men saying “whatever you want”

🎄 Marines interrupting his busking like a drunk flash mob

🎄 Why London might actually be his biggest fanbase (you’re welcome, Max)

We also cover extremely important topics such as:

✨ Does Max understand what women mean when they say “I’m fine”?

✨ How often does he quote his own songs in public?

✨ Which artist he’d form a duo with

✨ Why dogs always know when you’re a dog person

✨ Should men STOP thinking about fighting bears? (Yes.)

If you love Max McNown, Avery Anna, Noah Kahan, feral British humour, busking disasters, or listening to an American try to survive Girls In Low Places, this is your episode.

EP #71 | The Nashville Bachelorette That Ended My Wedding: Katie Finally Speaks Dec 04, 2025
    Show notes

In this episode, Katie finally lifts the curtain on the story she’s been hinting at since day one – the trip that blew up her old life and accidentally birthed Girls In Low Places.

Joined by her US BFF Sam who organised the doomed trip, she rewinds to her engagement, a countryside life, and a bachelorette weekend that cracked everything wide open.

They piece together the hangovers, the panic, the gut feelings and the “I can’t do this” moment that followed, talking honestly about friendship, grief, and what it really costs to choose yourself. This is the messy origin story behind the podcast, told for the first time.

EP #70 | We May Never Recover From The CMA Red Carpet: THE NASHVILLE DEBRIEF Nov 27, 2025
    Show notes

Girls in Low Places take Nashville and the CMA Awards, and honestly… we may never recover!

In this episode, Katie and Ozzy debrief the most chaotic, magical week of their lives – from anxiety sobs in hotel lifts to accidentally starting a speakeasy on the CMA red carpet.

Katie arrives in town early with OG videographer Rodney, hits the emotional Drake White benefit (and hides from Riley Green all night), sneaks into a Tucker Wetmore pop-up without Ozzy, and tries to survive a whirlwind of meetings, backstage moments and big-label visits once Ozzy finally lands after a flight-from-hell delay.

The girls share what it was really like backstage at the Opry, walking into the same spaces they’d only ever seen on the TV show Nashville, and trying to balance being “media” with just wanting to be fans who get drunk on Broadway and shake their tail feathers.

Then it’s full chaos mode: a blow-dry courtesy of Team Tucker Wetmore, a podcast recording at Bobby Bones’ insane house, getting changed for the CMAs in his bathroom, a corset emergency, security helping with undone dresses, and panic-spiralling about the red carpet.

On the carpet itself, they’re placed next to the Washington Post, juggle overexcited PRs, sprint after artists, accidentally cut off LeAnn Rimes to chase Tucker, fall on the floor screaming when he calls them his favourite interview, and melt down over seeing friends of the pod like Priscilla Block, Kaitlin Butts and more in their full CMA moment.

They also talk honestly about imposter syndrome, the pressure of “being industry” versus just loving country music as fans, how emotional it is to see artists they’ve championed level up, and what it meant to go from watching the CMAs on a sofa in the UK last year to sitting in the room this year.

Plus: Dustin Lynch shots, Rodney’s secret bar buddies, why the Union Jack dress was the best decision ever, why more UK fans should join the CMA, and a massive love letter to their Nashville haven at the Virgin Hotel – fries, hash browns, rooftop sunsets and all.

EP #69 | We gossip LIVE with the Maren Morris Queue on whether Maren will come back to country, Kelsea Ballerini's new EP and Megan's PINK ERA Nov 13, 2025
    Show notes

This week, Katie hits the streets — or more accurately, the queue — to chat with Maren Morris fans ahead of her London show. From theories on the divorce, the pop vs. country debate, and cries in the shower (not the car), to which British artists Maren should collab with — this one’s a ride.

It’s Girls in Low Places at its rawest .... fans oversharing, wigs flying and Megan Mornoney's pink era DISCUSSED. It’s UK country commentary — live from the queue from YOU the gilpers!

EP #68 | Josh Ross giggling about being "Single Again", what Akon has for lunch, and why British women are PRETTY Nov 06, 2025
    Show notes

A Canadian cowboy. A red dress. A lot of giggling.

This week on Girls In Low Places, Katie is behind the bar with country star Josh Ross.

We get into everything: why American men are better at compliments, what it was really like working with Akon on their recent collaboration, and why british girls are PRETTY.

We talk breakups, being workaholics, red flags vs green flags, and being single again. He didn't "Hate How You Look" after all.

EP #67 | Old Dominion on Zaddy Energy, Barbara being a scouser and why they still cry at beach bars Oct 31, 2025
    Show notes

We crashed Old Dominion's soundcheck right before their show to talk all things “Barbara”, grief, songwriting, and ZADDY ENERGY.

The guys open up about the Barbara album concept, how they went from writing hits for others to becoming one of country music’s biggest bands, and the real story behind their pizza-boot disaster. Expect zaddy debates, spicy questions (“best country song to have sex to”), and plenty of laughter.

🤣 Plus — Scousers, Barbara Windsor, and how to bribe Kelsea Ballerini.

    Show notes

Y’all, the phone lines are open and the Gilpers are calling in! This week Katie is answering your questions in a Girls in Low Places Q&A episode — covering dating American men, the Luke Combs Wembley ticket war, Riley Green backlash, and why Gavin Adcock might just be next on our list 👀

From being stood up on dating apps to figuring out if Josh Ross wants a sausage roll, Katie spills all the chaotic, hilarious, and occasionally delusional truths about love, country boys, and the madness of fandom life.

đź’” Expect laughter, a few existential crises, and a lot of GIRLS IN LOW PLACES energy as Katie tackles your dilemmas about emotionally unavailable musicians, situationships, and getting your boyfriend into country music.

Featuring Gilper voicemails, Nashville dreams, and some passionate takes on why gatekeeping country gigs is out — this solo episode proves that no matter how low the place, there’s always a girl (and a cowboy) trying to climb back up.
