Mide-Week Mom Chat: Riding the Wave. Feb 27, 2020
    Show notes

I had the extreme honor to go lecture a Belmont class on Tuesday. The class is called “Women in Entertainment.” How cool is that there there is a class talking about this?! I basically told my story. How I have had extreme highs and lows in my career. I’ve had multiple record deals, been on lots of reality TV, been a TV host, Record label promoter, song plugger, music teacher to kids and now podcaster. It’s so easy to look at someone when they seem to be crushing it and compare yourself to their journey and think you’re not enough, a loser, never going to be successful, not talented enough, etc... NEWS FLASH: everyone feels super insecure at times and like they are a fraud. The secret is you have to keep moving forward and riding the wave. You have to trust the flow. When you feel resistance, pivot. Follow the easy feelings. That’s doesn’t mean it won’t be hard work, but if you are in true pursuit of your passion it will feel so good when you are “working.” A lot of times you have to have a side hustle to support yourself until that can become your main hustle. But follow the flow. It’s so important to jump at opportunities and be brave. Put yourself out there even when it’s uncomfortable. I just basically recap what I told these amazing students at the beginning of their journey. I really felt honored that I had the chance to instill hope in them and let them know they are not crazy to believe in their dreams. I made everyone go around the class and say what they felt called to do and why they would be great at that job. It was powerful. So here’s my recap.

Stevie Frasure: Talks about her journey with breast cancer, being a power-couple w her mega-hit songwriter hubby Jesse Frasure and the time she and Beyoncé became best friends. Feb 17, 2020
    Show notes

Stevie is everybody’s best friend. Or at least everybody wants to be her best friend. Her smile and laugh are infectious. Then she drops her sense of humor and good time on you, and you can’t be anything short of glamoured by her spirit. Stevie talks to me openly about how life has been amazing and awful at the same time. While in the middle of battling breast cancer, her husband won songwriter of the year. While feeling her worst, she and her husband’s publishing company, Rhythm House (under Jay-Z’s Entertainment Company), started thriving and bringing in multiple #1 hits. Stevie also goes into vivid detail about the time she met Beyoncé at the company Christmas party and talked to her after multiple tequilas... they basically are best friends now lol! What I love about Stevie is her honesty and humor about life. She knows how to take things in stride. She’s not scared of dealing with the truth. She also knows how to really have fun and enjoy life no matter what season or struggle she may be facing, she finds the laughter and light!

Laura Hutfless: Named one of Billboard’s “Power players” and “Country’s most powerful” multiple years in a row, Laura is using her influence to help survivors of mass shootings find healing. Feb 10, 2020
    Show notes

Laura has a laundry list of accomplishments. She is a top female power player in the Entertainment Industry. She launched FlyteVu (They Connect Brands To Consumers Through the Power Of Music, Pop Culture and Entertainment) in 2015 after 15+ years in the music industry brokering Artist & Brand partnerships at CAA, Ticketmaster, and WME where she grew sponsorship revenues to over $50M. But Laura is not one of those “bosses” who just orders people around . She is all about the creative experience and hiring people who think outside the box and can bring ideas to life that others would be too scared to even dream about. I love how she told me “no is just a suggestion.” She won’t stop until her vision is executed no matter how much red tape she has to get through and how daunting the task may be. Giving back is where her heart lives. She wants people to be seen, ideas to come alive, people to feel fulfilled, and brands and entertainers to combine forces with a message that impacts the world for the better. I have been lucky enough to work with her on several campaigns and it has been nothing short of inspiring to see the creativity, connectivity and fluidness of her team. You can tell everyone is full of passion at FlyteVu. Laura talks about why healing is so important to her. When she was young she almost died from anorexia. Last year she lost her boyfriend. He was a survivor of Columbine. Laura has made it her life’s work to help heal those who have survived a mass shooting. Please check out http://www.theonsitefoundation.org if you or someone you know needs help. Laura is a light to this world and is using her own pain to help others find healing. This interview will motivate you to believe in hope, even in the darkest hours.

    Show notes

This episode I’m just flowing. Truly letting the spirt move through me and just guide where this convo goes. My friend Laney Crowder started a Women’s Group and she talked about how to get to “the harvest” in life, we have to go through the rain, plowing, more rain, and finally the harvest... but sometimes the harvest is bad and we have to start over.... but ultimately it all leads to our abundance so don’t be discouraged.” I talk about that, and the different seasons I’ve gone though lately, and how I feel I’m stepping into my Harvest season.... I talk about bringing God into every aspect of my life and why serving others is important to happiness and where I can improve on that in my life.... Then I answer a lot of your questions!
