Bryce’s work has been featured in multiple national media outlets including Good Morning America, Money Magazine, and ABC Nightline News.

Bryce created 10xTravel in 2014 and has been hanging out in the points and miles community since 2011.

In this episode, Bryce and I discuss a trip he and his family took to Uruguay and all the things that did not go according to plan on the way there. We’re talking flight delays, lost luggage, and what to do if the same thing happens to you.

One of my favorite credit cards that has trip protections for when travel doesn’t go according to plan is the Chase Sapphire Preferred. In addition to all of the points it earns, you also have trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, lost baggage coverage, purchase protection, and more. Traveling through Europe on $100 per day with Kendyl Grender | Ep 90 Jul 17, 2022
    Show notes

(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure)

Kendyl Grender from @kendyltravels grew up in a family that considered travel "for rich people." Until she studied abroad in 2013, she had only been to 4 states and had never been out of the country. Making just $34,000 a year out of graduate school, she made a commitment to see as much of the world as possible. Since then Kendyl has become a pretty savvy budget traveler, traveling to 14 countries and 20 US states with her husband, Aspen, for less than $18,000 over the past 5 years. She's not a nomad, a vagabond or a backpacker circumnavigating the globe. Instead, Kendyl utilizes budget travel tricks to travel more and inspires others to live life half full, too.

In this episode, Kendyl and I discuss how she and her husband were able to take a month off of work and explore Europe for only $4000 out of pocket for the whole month. That includes their flights, accommodations, food, excursions, and everything else!

We also discuss some credit cards that gave Kendyl some free nights at different hotels. Some of my favorites are the World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, and IHG Rewards cards, which all come with an anniversary free night certificate in addition to all the free nights you can get from the intro bonuses!

If you are traveling or moving abroad from the United States, make sure you have a credit card that has no foreign transaction fees. Visit the Virgin Islands on Points with Niqua | Ep 88 Jul 03, 2022

(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure)

Niqua of @travelingwithniqua is a travel blogger originally from the Virgin Islands. Her travel platform is focused on helping individuals travel more, by sharing budget travel tips, travel tricks and strategies! She has been featured on Travel Noire and has traveled to over 20 countries and 27 states and is currently on a journey to travel to all 50 states.

In this episode, Niqua and I discuss how to visit the Virgin Islands on points, the best airline routes, points hotels, excursions, and more!

I had the chance to visit the British Virgin Islands myself during a press trip with Bilt last year, and the islands are absolutely incredible! In case you haven’t heard of Bilt, I’m a senior advisor for them and their product makes it easy to earn points on rent without having to pay any fees. They can wire your landlord an ACH payment or mail a physical check, and the points you earn can be transferred to partners like American Airlines, United, Hyatt, and more! Also, while having the Bilt card can help you earn points much faster, you can also earn a lot of free points by completing different challenges in the Bilt app even if you don’t have the card!

Lauren Rabsatt from @thisishowwedotrips is a 30-something analytics consultant, wife, and mom of two kids under 5. She is committed to making her money work for her, so that her family can see the world without breaking the bank.

In this episode, Lauren and I discuss how she and her family took a fantastic skiing vacation to Lake Tahoe on points, and in case you’ve never looked at the prices for Lake Tahoe hotels – they are expensive! While it might seem weird to have an episode about ski trips in June, it’s actually a great time to start looking at award availability for different ski resorts you would like to visit!

Many of the most sought-after ski resorts are Hyatt properties such as Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, Hyatt Centric Park City, Grand Hyatt Vail, and Hyatt Residence Club Lake Tahoe. If you are interested in staying at a Hyatt ski resort, check out the World of Hyatt card, which earns you a Category 1-4 free night that you can use at hotels such as Hyatt Place Keystone. Luxury California Hotels with Shaila Arbona | Ep 85 Jun 12, 2022
    Show notes

(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure)

Shaila Arbona from @travelhackingvida began her award travel journey one year ago and in her first year earned over one million points! Shaila wants to spread awareness about the perks of travel hacking so that more women, families and people of color can access opportunities for travel. She’s also a coaching client of mine, and I’m so proud of everything she was able to accomplish in the last year!

In this episode, Shaila and I discuss how she earned more than a million points and how she used those points to stay at some incredible luxury resorts in California such as a couple of St. Regis Hotels and the Alila Ventana Big Sur, which can often go for more than $3000 per night!

One of the cards that was instrumental in Shaila’s journey was the World of Hyatt card, which lets you earn points towards luxury hotels like the Alila and also helps you to reach Globalist status with Hyatt faster. However, you don’t need Globalist status to enjoy Globalist perks! One thing you can do is ask a Globalist friend to make a Guest of Honor booking for you after you transfer some points into their account, and then you’ll be treated as if you have the Globalist status yourself! If you are interested, I provide the Guest of Honor booking services to my full strategy coaching clients.

How to Find the Best Points Flights with Sanjay Sharma | Ep 84 Jun 05, 2022
    Show notes

(Disclaimer: Click 'more' to see ad disclosure)

Sanjay Sharma of @sanjay1 is the head of Product at @pointme, where he leads the development of products that are helping thousands of people travel better with points. Sanjay himself has used points to travel to over 150 countries!

In this episode, Sanjay and I discuss some of the main challenges people have when they search for good flight award availability, how to save points when you book flights, and some of the ways point.me makes all of this much much easier than it has been in the past.

One of the great things about Point.me is that you can actually filter results by the type of points you have, whether it’s Chase, Amex, Citi, Capital One, Bilt, or something else! Having a variety of cards that work with multiple transfer patterns is a key strategy for when you are leveling up your award travel game. Remember: when you’re ready to apply for your next card that earns flexible points, whether it’s a Chase Ink card, Capital One Venture X, Amex Gold or Platinum, or Citi Premier, don’t use Google. Always ask your friends or favorite creators if they have a referral or affiliate link you can use.

Chris Hutchins from @chrishutchins is an avid financial optimizer and host of the top-ranked podcast "All the Hacks" where he shares his quest to upgrade his life without having to spend a fortune. He has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and CNBC.

In this episode, Chris and I discuss how he has earned more than 11 million points and miles, many of them by planning bachelor parties and other group travel, and how you can take advantage of group rates with airlines.

If you're looking to earn a lot of miles by booking hotels and plane tickets, check out the Capital One Venture X card. This card lets you earn 10 points per dollar on hotels and 5 points per dollar on flights booked through their portal, and 2x on all other purchases, making it one of the best cards for miscellaneous expenses. You'll also get lounge access, $100 towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and $300 annually as a statement credit towards travel booked through the Capital One portal. Remember, if you're interested in applying for the Venture X or any other card, make sure you use a friend or creator's referral or affiliate links rather than applying directly through Google or mailers.
