Episode 110 - Community Play Announcements and Fan Mail Jul 07, 2018

Show notes

This week, we take a little different approach to the show for one week only. With there not being a whole lot in the way of meaningful news items in the world of console gaming, we instead focus on the community events we have planned over the next few months. From announcements of tournaments to community plays, we detail everything we have planned from July into early 2019!

We also talk the new releases about to hit stores in the coming week, as well as what you can play for free with Games With Gold or PS+. Finally, we answer listener questions in our fan mail segment. To become part of our awesome and growing community, use the links below:

Episode 109 - A New Halo TV Series and Sony's Response to the Cross Play Controversy Jul 02, 2018

Show notes

This week, we dive into Sony's response to the cross-play controversy as we discuss the statement put forth by PlayStation regarding it. Are they serious about looking at a way to bring cross-play to the PlayStation, or are they just buying time? We also discuss whether we really care about cross-play on consoles, and if cross-play is really something companies should feel obligated to provide. Compared to locking the Epic account for PS4 Fortnite players, is cross-play really that big of a deal?

Halo is officially getting a series on Showtime, as the long rumored show was confirmed with production beginning early next year. How many of us are excited for it? Also, Amy Hennig left Electronic Arts months ago and the Cyberpunk 2077 demo shown behind closed doors at E3 was pre-alpha - does it change our thoughts on when the game will be released?

We detail all of the new releases for the coming week, as well as the new Games With Gold and PS+ titles for July 2018. Finally, we try to get caught up with fan mail questions and conduct our June 2018 giveaway. Episode 108 - The Future of Console Gaming Jun 23, 2018

Show notes

E3 just ended, so there's very little news in the gaming world. Therefore, on the heels of the Gamestop news this week, we talk about the future of console gaming. Are digital downloads and subscription services the way of the future? Will physical copies and disc drives in consoles ever really go away? Finally, we discuss whether a company like Gamestop can truly survive and thrive as the landscape of console gaming changes.

In addition, we briefly talk about the announcement of NHL 19 at the NHL Awards show this past week, and we announce community tournaments and community play events that will be taking place starting in late July. To close out discussion, we talk about whether we really want to see and hear about games repeatedly when they are years and years away from launch.

Finally, we detail the biggest releases for the coming week and answer fan questions in our fan mail segment. To have a chance at one of our many giveaways we do for our awesome community, use the links below to join and take part!

E3 2018 is over, and we're here to sum up what we saw this week and give you all of our top moments. We give you the 15 games and moments that got us most excited during the biggest video game show of the year this year. Did any huge announcements or games not make the list? Spoiler alert: the answer is yes!

In addition, we talk about Sony's decision to lock the Fortnite accounts for PS4 players to their console, not allowing player progression to travel between systems. Was this a good move by Sony, or could it backfire on them with their loyal fan base? Finally, we discuss Microsoft stating that they are deep into development on the next Xbox console, and the rumors that the next generation of consoles will arrive in 2020. Is that the right time to introduce a new generation, and how many games that we saw at E3 this year will be next gen games?
