SCRAMBLE: Why is it so hard for people to praise Trump for ending the Israel war with Hamas? Oct 14, 2025

Show notes

Why is it so hard for people to praise Trump for ending the Israel war with Hamas?

As the Gaza ceasefire holds, Hamas security forces have returned to the streets, clashed with armed groups and killed alleged gangsters in what the militant group says is an attempt to restore law and order in areas where Israeli troops have withdrawn.

The show of force, welcomed by some Palestinians after months of lawlessness, could threaten the truce now that all the living hostages taken in Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack have been released.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said the war will not end until Hamas has been dismantled, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan calls for Hamas to disarm and hand power over to an internationally supervised body that has yet to be formed.

Hamas has not fully accepted those terms, saying more negotiations are needed. It says it is willing to hand over power to other Palestinians but will not allow chaos to prevail during the transition. Israelis fear that as long as Hamas is armed, it will exercise influence in Gaza — and could rebuild its military capabilities — even if an independent body exercises nominal rule.

Former state trooper pleads guilty in child porn production case

A former state trooper has pleaded guilty in a child pornography production case.

Jeremy Plonski entered guilty pleas to one count of producing child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography. Additional counts of each offense will be dismissed at sentencing.

Minnesota State Patrol Colonel Christina Bogojevic confirmed that Plonski has been terminated.

Authorities said that Plonski sexually assaulted an infant and wore his state trooper and Army Reservist uniforms while committing the crimes. Plonski then sent videos of the assaults to a user on Kik.

He was also charged in Scott County with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct of a person under the age of 14. It’s unclear how Plonski’s guilty plea in federal court will impact the state’s case against him.

Ex-Northfield middle school teacher pleads guilty in student sexting case

A former Northfield Middle School teacher accused of sending lewd photos to students on social media has pleaded guilty to a felony charge in court on Tuesday.

Former teacher Katie Hanson, 38, was charged with two counts of engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child. She is accused of sending nude photographs to underage students on Snapchat in 2024.

Hanson filed a petition on Monday to plead guilty to one of the felony charges in exchange for the dismissal of the other. Under the agreement, Hanson is expected to be on probation for the next five years, spend a month on electronic home monitoring, and be ordered to complete 300 hours of community service.

She’s also expected to testify against former school resource officer Gabriel Crombie, who is accused of failing to file reports made by students, should his case proceed to trial. The two worked at Northfield Middle School in 2024 and eventually entered into a relationship together.
