    Garage Heroes In Training

    An amateur endurance auto racing team hoping to show everyone that they too can participate in performance driving or racing. We are a relatively new team and learning right along with you. Our assumption is that you know very little to nothing about the sport but are interested in learning to drive better and eventually maybe even race in a local event of interest. We will cover all forms of racing and hope to be entertaining as well as educational.

    DwD 0372: Troubleshooting a Crank No Start Condition

    On this Dominating with Dawson, we take advantage of a problem that we are having with our 1993 Honda Civic SI (D16Z6 for the home gamers) race car and use it as a working example of how to troubleshoot an issue. As with most parts of working on a car, we are a work in progress, some would even say "In Training", lol. We utilize our pain to try to work through the logic of a car not working and trying to diagnose the issue. If you like these types of Dominating with Dawson, please let us know.     GHIT 0371: Tim Burr – Our First Member of the Sorry For Party Racing Team

    One of the fun things about meeting someone on the Sorry For Party team for the first time is whether they are in their race team regalia or in civilian clothes. We have found that often we have met the same person twice without knowing it. Tim Burr is no exception. We finally placed the name and the face at the spring PittRace event and then he joined us for the Thompson event while racing with Jeremy's El Jeffe Trophy Truck team. This episode gave us an opportunity to get to know Tim a bit better and how he has progressed to this point in racing and life. A great episode with a great person. In addition, during this episode, we go into the history of the Sorry For Party team, What to do and what not to do or look out for as an arrive and drive driver, as well as an in seat review of both the El Jeffe Trophy Truck and the 3PM Cheaties Cressida. And then we begin to make a great plan.

    DwD 0370: Overdriving vs. Underdriving

    When trying to improve as a driver there are many instances where the same driver can be overdriving their car and at other points on the track can be underdriving. In addition, the best of us also can have areas where we do one or the other and our lap times area adversely affected. For this episode, we talk about some indications of a driver under driving their car and other indications where the driver driving the car. While people grow in their driver education and skills, most will have a personality predisposition towards one side of the spectrum generally. We use this episode of DwD to try to explain the jargon and help you determine where and when you may be under or over driving and some things to do to continue to improve.

    After having a few inquiries at the track and via social media, we begin to review what we are up to and working on as a team and some of the projects and issue we are working on. This episode is a partial laundry list of some of the more significant near term items we are working on or pondering, as well as a few of our goals going into the approaching offseason. At this point, we consider these types of episodes a work in progress and expect them to come out less than weekly, but we hope they help everyone.     GHIT 0364: Reese Fokine – Racer and Damper Engineer for Rahal Letterman Racing

    We have been racing and HPDE'ing with Reese for the past several years and he has accomplished a lifetime goal directly out of school and is working as a damper engineer for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. We talk with Reese about his racing history and how it is to be able to learn and actually earn a living in racing. Reese's driving training has been with NASA Great Lakes, and he has progressed al the way up to HPDE 4 and instructing for several organizations. Bill and Vicki are freshly baked from the heat at their recent GridLife event and babbling abounds. We also find out several tips and tricks from professional racing that can be applied to amateur racing efforts.
