FEED DROP: The Empty Coffin Jan 09, 2025

Show notes

From The Empty Coffin:

We're celebrating the release of Robert Eggers' remake of Nosferatu that was released on Christmas Day. Film critics Hope Madden and George Wolf join us with a review of the new film. Plus, they shed a light on the shadowy world of Nosferatu. We uncover the film's history, its unauthorized connection to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and the chilling urban legends surrounding its star, Max Schreck.

Because of its Christmas day release, we also explore the surprising ties between Nosferatu and Christmas. From the film's setting and release date to the tradition of counter-programming horror movies on Christmas Day, we uncover the darker side of the holiday season. And of course, we couldn't resist sharing our favorite Christmas horror movie recommendations – from classics like Black Christmas to hidden gems like Rare Exports.

So, grab your garlic and crucifix, settle in for a frightfully festive listen, and prepare to be haunted by the symphony of horror that is Nosferatu!
