Ben Johnson's appearance at the Blackhawks game, and how JSN's contract impacts Rome Odunze down the road Mar 23, 2026
    Show notes

Dan started Monday's Forward Progress discussing Bears head coach Ben Johnson's surprise appearance at the Blackhawks game last night, and fans couldn’t get enough. Also, new Bears defensive back Coby Bryant has his eyes on some legendary numbers, two that aren't exactly surprising.

Could Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s contract shape the future payday for Rome Odunze?

With young wide receivers resetting the market, JSN’s deal could end up being more than just a Seahawks storyline—it might become a key reference point when the next wave of stars, including Odunze, negotiate their own extensions.

How much will production, timing, and market inflation matter? And could JSN’s numbers raise the ceiling for what Odunze eventually earns?

Will the Chicago Bears draft a defensive tackle? Mar 19, 2026
    Show notes

    0:00 Bears defense

    13:00 QBs on the move

    18:10 Aikman

    23:54 NFL rule changes

The Bears’ current depth chart says one thing. The draft board might say another.

Chicago has six bodies listed at defensive tackle, which raises a simple question with about twenty complicated follow‑ups: will Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson actually draft a defensive tackle — or is the focus strictly edge rusher and safety? And if safety was a priority… did free agency already take care of that?

We dig into what the Bears’ draft strategy might look like, whether half this draft could end up devoted to offense, and if Poles could be gearing up to trade picks and move around the board yet again. There are answers. There are theories. There are also a lot of reasons to be confused.

    Elsewhere around the league:

Jack Sanborn is back in Chicago, because some things just make sense

Carson Wentz joins an already crowded QB room in Minnesota

The Eagles trade for Andy Dalton, adding veteran chaos to the mix

The NFL may (or may not) address the Troy Aikman consulting situation with the Dolphins

And yes, NFL rules changes are on the way, whether anyone asked for them or not

Draft questions, roster math, league nonsense — and a reminder that depth charts lie this time of year.

Chicago Bears add depth at D-Line | WR3 | Maxx Crosby is "livid" Mar 18, 2026
    Show notes

    0:00 Bears

    21:15 Maxx Crosby

    29:30 Colts

The Chicago Bears keep tweaking the roster, but the big questions are still unanswered.

The Bears added depth to the defensive line by signing free agent James Lynch to a one‑year deal — a move that makes sense… and still raises questions. Meanwhile, we’re already looking ahead: who is the third wide receiver in the Bears’ 2026 offense? And more importantly — is that player already on the roster, or does Ryan Poles still have shopping to do?

We also dig into more fallout from Maxx Crosby and the Ravens deal that almost happened, plus one of the strangest signings you’ll hear about all offseason: the Colts bringing in a former Notre Dame basketball player to play tight end, because of course they did.

    In this episode:

What the James Lynch signing actually means for the Bears’ defensive line

The WR3 question no one agrees on heading into 2026

Whether the answer is already in Halas Hall

New details on the Maxx Crosby–Ravens deal that never was

Why the Colts’ latest experiment feels extremely on‑brand

Smart analysis, a little skepticism, and just enough NFL weirdness to remind you it’s March.

The Chicago Bears offseason chaos rolls on, and this time it starts with Brad Biggs’ latest mock draft from the Chicago Tribune. Biggs has the Bears taking Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman, and Dan is already out—citing a very specific Bears history at the position that he wants absolutely no part of. This one sparks a debate we are not letting die.

    Then things get even weirder.

Why is Ian Cunningham, a key voice in the Atlanta Falcons football operations, effectively operating as their GM… and why are the Bears not getting compensatory picks from the NFL? We have questions, we have theories, and we are absolutely not dropping this until someone explains it.

We also dive into Eric Edholm’s new NFL.com power rankings following NFL free agency:

Where do the Bears rank overall?

Who’s sitting on top of the NFC North right now?

And how much should fans actually care in March?

Who should start at LT? Bears turnover edge & Justin Fields lands in KC Mar 16, 2026

The Chicago Bears offseason is officially shifting gears, and the battles are starting to take shape. At left tackle, it looks like Braxton Jones vs. Jedrick Wills Jr. for the starting job — and unless the Bears draft a tackle early, one of those two will be protecting the quarterback in Week 1.

We also react to Devin Duvernay signing with the Arizona Cardinals, which all but confirms his replacement arrived last week in Kalif Raymond. What does that move tell us about the Bears’ plans on offense?

Plus, Matt delivers his final word on the Bears stadium saga: enough already. Pick a location, get the deal done, and let’s move forward.

We take a deep dive into the numbers behind turnover differential, where the Bears led the NFL last season at +22. Looking at league‑wide data from the last 12 seasons, what can turnovers actually tell us about winning, sustainability, and real contenders?

To wrap it up, we spin around the league with the latest NFL news:

Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs

Darnell Mooney signs a one‑year deal with the New York Giants

Jim Irsay’s historic auction brings in $93 million

Chicago Bears Shake‑Up: Secondary Gone, defense will build through the DRAFT Mar 13, 2026
    Show notes

    0:00 Bears

    31:25 DJ Moore

    32:35 Josh Sweat

    39:25 NFL Notes

Four key pieces of the Chicago Bears’ 2025 secondary—a group that helped deliver 11 wins and an NFC North title—are no longer on the roster. All four signed one‑year deals elsewhere, with Kevin Byard earning the biggest contract at $9 million. That tells you everything about how the league viewed the Bears’ defense heading into 2026… despite Chicago leading the NFL in takeaways last season.

Ryan Poles has made it clear he wants more speed on defense, so all eyes now turn to what the Bears will do in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Meanwhile, DJ Moore is officially in Buffalo, saying his time in Chicago “just ran its course.” And in Arizona, Josh Sweat reportedly wants out — should the Bears take a serious look at adding him?

Plus, we break down other major NFL notes, including:

    • Kyler Murray in Minnesota

    • The Tennessee Titans’ new uniforms

    • And where Field Yates has Jeremiah Love landing in his latest draft projection

Another loaded show — Bears offseason talk, league news, and everything in between.

Chicago Bears add Devin Bush - the PERFECT FIT and take a swing on Jedrick Wills Jr. at LT Mar 12, 2026
    Show notes

    14:45 Kyler Murray

    17:45 Bears

    22:15 Devin Bush

    25:00 Kedrick Wills Jr.

The Chicago Bears have added former top‑10 pick Jedrick Wills Jr. to the left tackle competition, taking a swing on a high‑ceiling reclamation project who sat out all of 2025 to fully rehab and reset. With multiple tackles now battling for the job, should fans trust the coaching staff to sort out the position — or is left tackle still a major concern heading into the 2026 season?

The Bears may have also found an ideal fit at linebacker by signing Devin Bush, who brings speed, range, and scheme versatility to a defense that needed exactly that.

Meanwhile, the Maxx Crosby saga appears over, as Crosby announces he’s ready to “run that shit” as a Raider once again — closing the door on any Bears trade dream.

Around the division, the Bears might soon see a new QB in Minnesota, as Kyler Murray meets with the Vikings front office today. And with Durham Smythe heading to Baltimore to reunite with Declan Doyle, Chicago now needs to add a third tight end, with Andrew Beck emerging as a name to watch.

A lot is shifting fast — let’s dive into what it all means for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears continue their second wave of free‑agency moves, adding depth, speed, and competition across the roster. And with the Maxx Crosby deal falling through in Baltimore, it might be the perfect time for Ryan Poles to call Las Vegas and find out what the All‑Pro edge rusher would cost now. If the price has dropped, Chicago should absolutely be in the conversation.

We break down the newest Bears signings, how they fit into the 2027 roster build, and what moves could still be on the way.

Around the league, things are getting wild:

Daniel Jones lands a massive contract with the Colts
