    Show notes

This week we discussed Krampus, complete with a surprise visit from the man...well, goat-demon-man, himself! Here are relevant pictures and links!

    The Booze:

Glühwein German/Austrian mulled wine winter/holiday drink, often an 'after ski' drink, as you were cold and it would quickly warm you up. It is available all over that region during the winter months!

-3/4 cup water -3/4 cup sugar (white) -1 cinnamon stick -1 orange -10 whole cloves -1 bottle (750ml) red wine

-In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer. -Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the juice into the simmering water. Push the whole cloves into the outside of the orange peel, and place the peel in the simmering water. Continue simmering for 30 min until it's thick and syrupy. -Pour in the wine and heat until steaming but not simmering. Remove the clove-studded orange halves. -Serve in mugs or in pre-heated glasses (with warm water) as cold glasses will break. Drink while hot!

Have you been nice or naughty this year? Well if it was the latter, you probably had a visit from this week's creature, Krampus, on December 5th. This dark and shaggy goat-demon-man with horns, fangs, and an extremely long tongue carries a bundle of birch sticks to beat bad kids (and sometimes adults) and a sack to carry them back to Hel with him for the next year. Featuring a VERY special guest!

Join us for our second "Modern Folklore" episode! We narrate 3 stories as we delve into the world of No Sleeps, Creepypastas, and Let's Not Meets, which are the kinds of tales that folklore stems from. Things that are unexplained and a little creepy, things that might be real but we don't necessarily want them to be, things that keep us up at night or that we tell our children and grandchildren. We hope you enjoy, and if you have any tales you've written and you'd like them to be considered for narration, email us at modern@folkloreontherocks.com!
