Ep 63 - Humans Dec 10, 2016

Show notes

Episode 63 brings Blue and Justin together to chat about the last of the current playable races in the Destiny gameworld, Humans. We get into a fair amount of chatter about the philosophical nature of the Human condition as presented in the game (hint, it has a lot to do with hope) and how that actually creates an overall better gameworld in which we, as players, experience. Get ready for some laughs as we break apart the information that we have about Humanity within the Destiny universe - and don't blame us if you can't find the cornbread.

Ep 62 - Update: Rasputin Dec 03, 2016

Show notes

Episode 62 brings Blue and Justin together to chat about the new information that we have received within the Rise of Iron DLC for Destiny on our favorite warmind, Rasputin. Fair warning - Blue has a few tangents with regards to the debate on Rasputin's attacking of the Traveler (or not), the mythological tie ins that can be seen with the response towards the Lords of Iron, and even a look back at the Sleeper Simulant. Enjoy your standard dosage of entertainment at the hands of the team as they walk through the new Grimoire (and let you know their thoughts, of course) and answer this week's Dispatches from the Wilds!

Extra Lore 09 - Borderlands Dec 02, 2016

Show notes

Our 9th installment of the Extra Lore series brings Blue, Justin, and returning special guest co-host Damoel together to explore the Borderlands series. We discuss the general layout of the series' universe, delve into the information in the individual titles, and even chat a bit about the multiple weapons manufacturers that players in the game can purchase weapons of destruction and mayhem from. Also, we touch a bit on the overall tone of the series - especially the depth of the worldbuilding and the refreshing use of humor as a device to drive home some powerful punches concerning some of the more notable NPC's players encounter throughout the series. Tighten up the big-boy pants, because things are gonna get crazy.

Behind the Scenes: Music w Lady Desiree Dec 01, 2016

Show notes

The third installment of our Behind the Scenes series gave us an opportunity to sit down with Lady Desiree to chat with her about questions that our Discord chat had about music (especially with regards to implementation to video games). Join us as we discuss the intracies of the musical world with Desiree and enjoy some good laughter at the stories (and a few little easter eggs for those who listen carefully)!

Ep 61 - The Foundries Nov 24, 2016

Show notes

Episode 61 brings Blue, Justin, and returning guest co-host Unisys12 together to chat about the lore that we have currently available for the weapon foundries within the City. Forgive Blue for a bit of a scratchy voice - sickness never plays well with audio, and there was only so much water available. There was a surprising amount of lore buried within the Rare weaponry that many Guardians take for granted, as well as some archive digging for some clarifying words from Bungie themselves on a few of the more developed foundries - so be sure to stay for the whole show (we might have included a bit of a pre-show conversation at the end for everyone, in light of Thanksgiving)!

Ep 60 - Lord Shaxx Nov 16, 2016

Show notes

Episode 60 brings Blue and Justin back together to chat about the Crucible master himself, Lord Shaxx (and his helpers, the Redjacks). The chat definitely showed their interest in the assistants and the information that we have recently gained access to via the newer Grimoire cards - so there's a healthy amount of discussion on that front. And a fair amount of laughter (as per usual) alongside some healthy speculation (gotta keep that foil spinning, as requested in one of our Dispatches from the Wilds this week)!

Ep 59 - Commander Zavala Nov 10, 2016

Show notes

Episode 59 brings Blue, Justin, and Mel back together again to chag about the Vanguard Commander and Titan Vanguard Mentor, Zavala. An Awoken of surprising depth and knowledge of historical events (pre-Golden Age) in the Destiny universe, Zavala is truly living up to the Awoken standard of being an enigma - there is an infinite amount of things about the leader of the Vanguard that one could easily miss if they didn't pay close attention to his involvement and comments about the universe our Guardians exist within. Regardless or not, prepare yourself for an enjoyable exploration of the lore and maybe even an answer to the question of if Zavala actually purred...

Ep 58 - Ikora Rey Nov 03, 2016

Show notes

Episode 58 brings Blue, Justin, and Mel together again to chat about the Warlock Vanguard Mentor herself, Ikora Rey. Discussing the story from the iconoclastic beginnings (with the infamous Invective by her side) to her more level-headed approach that we see in game, the team really explores the different aspects of what we have available about Ikora in the game currently. We also are formally beginning two new segments in the show, one led by Mel to analyze the presentation of the costume (i.e., "Fabric Theory") and another to give you all a chance to fully weigh in on the topic and also ask us specific questions (i.e., "Dispatches from the Wilds")!

Extra Lore 08 - Bioshock Nov 02, 2016

Show notes

Our 8th installment of the Extra Lore series (we're gonna start just counting these separately to help everyone stay sane at this point), brings Blue, Justin, Mel, and special guest co-host Demigod257 together to chat about the big picture of the Bioshock series...and the headaches that such an undertaking can create. We begin with a summary of the three games, which then segues into a conversation about the game's universe and the basic theories around that model of existence before letting Mel loose to chat with us about her own views on the costumes and designs of the series (especially her love for the "golden age" of Rapture). At the end, the only question that we have left is...Would you kindly?

Ep 57 - Yes Oct 27, 2016

Show notes

Episode 57 brings Blue, Mel, and guest co-hosts Kachine and Enver together for a bit of a deviation from the norm, since everyone banded together to support some good old positivity and voted Yes. As much as we enjoyed the absolute mayhem that was the chat this week, the team thought it would be a good chance to talk about the general themes and theories of what it is that we get together each week to discuss. Stories.
The chat bounces around a bit (not a huge surprise, but fair warning nonetheless) and covers the more general theories of the monomyth and how that theory applies not only to most traditional mythologies and stories, but games in particular. Get ready for some discussion on each of the team's favorite application methods of lore in game, as well as an awesome glimpse into the mind of Mel with her views on fabric theory (sounds like something we might need to get an episode on later...)!
